Re: Peppers Wants Out Of Carolina

Oooohhh looks like we're starting the "sign every FA that's good" thing early this post/offseason.

We would be absolutely insane to put that much of our cap % into the D-Line. He's said that his preference is for a 3-4 D. We are not going to change the scheme, and I guarantee some team out there that does run the 3-4 will offer him a contract, provided that he is a UFA. In the meantime, Carolina could franchise him, which immediately means 2 first-round draft picks would have to be given up by the signing team.

Either way, I believe we're better off saving the D-Line splurge for another year when we will probably need to fill a huge gap once Phat Pat is done. If given an either/or choice. I would rather have no drop-off on the current line performance instead of a small increase in productivity. A Peppers signing would just kill us, I can't imagine that any 'cap tricks' would lessen the impact enough.

    We need O-Line and Secondary.

I'm not even going to go back 3 pages and read eveyones thoughts. Bottom line is, D Line is the least of our problems, and I'de take every guy we have right now playing D-Line for us and be very happy....We don't need no stinking PEPPERS....LOL

It is a lot of money to put in the defensive line.
    And almost certainly won't happen.

But consider that while the projected salary cap for 2009 is $123 million, there is no cap in 2010 unless they get a new CBA figured out.
Even if they do, how big will it be?
How will old contracts be treated?

    I don't know.
I think we could get away with it, and it would make the team much better.
But even if the Vikes decided to take a shot, another team will probably offer him a more attractive combination in terms of position and money.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

Re: Peppers Wants Out Of Carolina

I cannot really see them bringing Peppers in here ... too many other pressing needs. But if there are any preliminary talks and any interest shown ... why the hell not.
Would be such a dominant line ... even more than it was this year when it was pretty dominant.
I do not agree with Kevon very often ... but I actually like the idea of bringing in Garcia and Bryant and hell ... why not Peppers?

I hope he goes to Pittsburgh
    Peppers-Harrison-Farrior-Woodley

I don't... I think we play both those teams next year.

True. But the other 15 teams they play, including the packers, bears and lions deserve to get hit in the mouth.
