PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL OF THEIR OWN?
We always read the e-mails that readers send to us. Not just because we are gluttons for abuse, but because sometimes our readers offer up some pretty good insights.
And then we can pass them off as our own.
Case in point. Now that the Seahawks have signed Vikings receiver Nate Burleson to a seven-year, $49 million contract that becomes fully guaranteed if he plays five or more games in Minnesota during any year of the deal, the Seahawks could end up losing kicker Josh Brown if a team signs him to an offer sheet that becomes fully guaranteed if Brown plays five or more games in the state of Washington. By adding several big-dollar phony years onto the end of the deal, there's no way the Seahawks would match.
So it's possible that the Seahawks have outsmarted themselves.
If a team with a pressing need at the position (such as the Patriots) is willing to give up a seventh-round draft pick, they can get Brown by turning the tables on the Seahawks.
Also available for such a maneuver is Seahawks quarterback Seneca Wallace, who would command a fourth-round pick as compensation.

Ha. Wouldn't that be funny if somebody took their kicker. They would totally be the toast of Minnesota.

Re: PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
Hooray! Good for the Pats! Seahawks overpay for Nate, now they lose their kicker. Do we play them next year? If we do that should be an interesting grudge match.
Re: PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
They really did outsmart themselves, they didnt need two poison pills, they shouldnt have let other teams in on it. Kickers are a must playoff time, I would love to have the Patriots steal Brown from them.
Re: PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
This is getting ridiculous... I can't imagine too many more of these poison pill deals will get done without the owners trying to do something about it, they render the UFA and Franchise tags nearly worthless.
Re: PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
wow, look what we started.....
Re: PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
These poison pills are becoming idiotic. The one we put in was fairly reasonable but these new ones about playing in a state so many times are rediculous. Something has to be done...
Re: PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
That would be sweet if they did it, but I doubt they will. If they were smart, the Pats would do it now, before the rules get changed.
Re: PATS TO PULL OUT A POISON PILL
This is retarded. Something has to be done about these poison pill contracts, or else restricted free agency is going to go down the tubes.
