Re: Panthers sign Moose, Cut Carr

Have the fore....errrrr I mean Redskins locked up Todd Collins Yet? If not he would be a wonderful pickup to have in Vikings Purple. He's by far the best FA QB out there, if he's still available?? Cut Holcomb and we would have T. Jack, Collins, and Bollinger....I could live with that in 08....

    Cheers!

Re: Panthers sign Moose, Cut Carr

As I explained in the Gus Frerotte Thread, I think Volek is by far the best FA qb out there.

If you look past the the last few games with the floppyskins, Todd Collins hasn't started a game since 1997.

Todd Collins around since 1995 age 36, arm starting to weaken
    G:44 GS:20 pct:56.7% td:22 int:19 rate: 76.2 yds:4335

Billy Volek around since 2000 age 31 arm still strong
    G:30 GS:10 pct:59.7% td:26 int:14 rate:84.9
    yds:3515

so by looking at those stats, Todd Collins has been around longer and played in more games.
He's thrown for 800 more yards in 14 more games.

Voleks pct is better, total td's and ints are better and rating is better

Volek is only 31 and still has years left in the tank.
Collins is nearing the age to hang it up and call it a career.

I think Volek is a much better player than Collins.

In support of Carr, the guys does know how to take a hit.
So maybe he'd fit in with the pass protection we might have next year.

How bad is the QB FA market again this year.
We have 5 pages devoted to who is better David Carr, Billy Volek, Todd Collins and throw in Quincy Carter.
Wow, we sure are in trouble if TJ goes down.

I know this group is who is available but does anyone think that any of these guys are worthy of an NFL jersey?

    LOL, Great post.

Funniest thing about all of it is that we still have yutz's on here who think our QB selection process sucks cause we can't find a turd and polish it out of the crap that is available.

Nothing but good entertainment on this site sometimes.

Re: Panthers sign Moose, Cut Carr

I'm pretty sure Quincy Carter was thrown in as a joke.
Volek is a decent player, could be a starter in the right situation, would make an excellent backup.
There's just not enough to judge Collins on.
Sure he had some great games last year, but prior to that He hadn't started a game since 1997!
No one knew what to expect of him.
If he can do well next year, good for him, but if not, i won't be surprised.
Carr is Carr, we've beat that one to death already, and Quincy Carter shouldn't even be in the league.

You guys have to remember, we're not looking for a pro-bowl calibre player to BACK UP TJ.
We just need someone who's been around a while and can get things done.
Volek is a great example of that.
Out of all the available qb's,
(not counting Trent Green) Volek is the most consistant and the better player.

Some of us Yutz's will believe they can either find or develop a decent QB when they finally see one
So far all their turd polisher has done is leave a big brown streak.
