CHARLOTTE -- Moments after being cleared of two charges, Carolina Panthers offensive lineman and former Louisiana sheriff's deputy D'Anthony Batiste suggested Friday that local police might have had racial motives when he was arrested in March...

Clicked on this article off of the SI page this AM.
My first thought was "Oh, right, here we go again, a black guy claiming racism....."

However, after reading the article, I'm inclined to agree with him.
Especially since this guy isn't a trouble-maker, but is, instead, a deputy with another law-enforcement agency.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

There are very little details given about the arrest itself, although I would tend to agree that it sounds suspicious.

It sounds like the initial stop was valid enough - 8.8 is pretty damn dark, and I understand the reasons for restricting the amount of tint.
But I am not sure how that gave the officer probable cause for anything other than a plain view search, especially when the officer himself said that Batiste was initially cooperative.

I think the window tinting laws are stupid, why do people need to see in your car?
