INDIANAPOLIS â€” The Vikingsâ€™ biggest rival, the Green Bay Packers, have announced their intention to make a sigificant change in 2009 by shifting to a 3-4 defense under new coordinator Dom Capers. That will make Green Bay the only team in the division to use the 3-4 as its base defense.

Not a big fan of the 3-4 against the run. But who knows, it's worked for the Steelers and plenty of other teams...

A personnel director for a team with a 3-4 defense foresees growing pains in Green Bay.

"It's a huge transition for them," the scout said last week. "It will be a chore to adapt that talent to a 3-4 scheme. But the guy (Capers) who is doing it is a good enough coach so he probably will blend in a little 4-3 and not make it a total transition in Year 1. If you can do that, you can survive until you have two or three years to kind of flip the roster."

I tend to agree with this guy about the growing pains...not as easy as one might think.

I wonder if being in the same division as Adrian Peterson pushed them to make this decision. Granted, a 4-3 is better suited against the run, the 3-4 is faster.

I can't wait to see Peterson tear it to shreds.

the 3-4 system that capers brings from his days with LeBeau and cower is very stout against the run, and your crazy if you think it won;t be better than last year...
