Alright, this is a little off the subject, but c'mon, this is a thread about the Packers. Anybody else with a Mac having problems logging on to the Vikings team website?

Barring an unforeseen snag, the Green Bay Packers' first-round draft pick, A.J. Hawk, should be signed and ready to practice at today's second day of training camp.

Hawk's agent, Mike McCartney, said Friday his client had agreed in principle to a six-year contract, though the sides were working out the details.

"We're hoping to wrap it up (Friday night)," McCartney said. "A.J.'s ecstatic."

While Hawk had to wait a day to get on the practice field, fellow linebacker Abdul Hodge, a third-round draft pick, signed his contract in time for Friday night's camp-opening workout.

Hawk's contract is a six-year deal worth about $36 million, and includes guaranteed money of about $16 million. The guarantees consist of a roster bonus this year of $1.91 million, a guaranteed option bonus next year worth $11,856,250 and guaranteed portions of his base salaries.

Hawk has a minimum playing-time incentive that drives up the value of the deal.

If he plays in 35 percent of the defensive snaps this year, or if he fails to do that but plays in 45 percent of defensive snaps in a subsequent year, his base salaries for all remaining years increase.

If he reaches that incentive this year, which is a given barring serious injury, the value of the deal increases from $17.6 million over the first five years to $26 million, and in the sixth year he'll make $10 million or the average of the five top-paid linebackers in the NFL, whichever is higher.

That sixth-year salary will be guaranteed if he's on the roster on the first day of the league year, which usually is in early March.

The player picked ahead of Hawk, left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson, signed a six-year deal worth $37.5 million that included about $17.5 million in guarantees.

Hodge signed his deal Friday afternoon. The 6-foot, 236-pound linebacker out of Iowa was the first of the Packers' third-round draft choices. He earned first-team Big Ten honors his final three seasons with the Hawkeyes.
