Packers CEO says name is “very derogatory ...”“I don’t know if there is any way you can change...” Packers CEO Mark Murphy told WSSP-AM on Tuesday, via Bob Wolfley of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “.... But I am sensitive. It’s a name that’s very derogatory to a lot of people”We studied it long and hard, got a lot of complaints
Is the Packer name ....
No he's talking about the Red Raiders and Redskins, just saw some irony from this as its coming from the Packers
And partial quotes

I find it ironic that those with no stake whatsoever in teh issue at hand feel compelled or entitled to speak up on it. Who gives a flying rip what Murphy - "Mr. Sensitive" - thinks or feels about a football team he ISN'T a part of. Why not ask US what we think of the Packer name?
Personally, I'm offended by the name "Packers". I know a lot of people who work for moving companies, and none of them feel represented fairly by the "Packers". In fact, many of them are offended to be associated with the "Packers". They consider themselves to be "Relocation Specialists", and find the term "Packers" to be demeaning and trivializing.
I think that Green Bay should change their name to the "Shit Suckers", as I am not familiar with any people who suck shit who AREN'T fans of the team, and it's truly representative.

He's pretty much just saying what everyone already knows. Obviously it's a terrible name and of course it will be changed eventually, and deservingly so. It's one of those things that people will look back at one day and say "wow, they really called a team that?"

While I will agree that an alteration could be selected, the fact that groups get their undies in a knot over anything even remotely considered ethnic is disappointing in the extreme. The fact that groups like the NCAA has capitulated to these idiots only makes it more disgusting.
The "Redskins" moniker wasn't selected to debase or denigrate American Indians. It was chosen because it evoked a mental image of proud and capable warriors. Warriors to be FEARED. Same with the North Dakota Fighting Sioux, the Cleveland Indians, or the Atlanta Braves. Since ND was pressured relentlessly by the NCAA (despite the vast majority of local tribes APPROVING of the moniker), they have essentially been forced to resign their name.
So, what about Notre Dame? I'm Irish. I don't always fight. I certainly don't fight like their image. Should I be offended and force them to change? Better change that name.
What about the Vikings? Any people of Scandinavian decent feeling slighted? Better change that name.
What about any animal names? Has anyone ASKED the animals if they approve? Better change those names.
Where do we stop?
Maybe, we stop by telling people to get over themselves and focus on things that actually MATTER.
Nah....that makes too much sense. Let's all pile on the Redskins instead......those bastards.
Oh shit....I just probably offended a handful of people born out of wedlock!!!!
