Pack interested in Jason Taylor?
With KGB hurt, Dolphins' Taylor seems tempting
By Rob Demovsky •
With their high-priced pass-rush specialist Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila rehabilitating a surgically repaired knee, there’s added concern about the Packers’ ability to put the heat on opposing quarterbacks.
The Packers recently made an exploratory inquiry with the Miami Dolphins, who are trying to decide what to do with the disgruntled Taylor.

Just found this too -

If they only want a 2nd rounder for him, we almost HAVE TO try and counter that. I feel confident in Robison and Edwards, but seriously...Jason Taylor, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams and Jared Allen all on the same line? My God... Could you honestly even make a better D-line if you could pick from every current player in the NFL?

Re: Pack interested in Jason Taylor?
I think trading for Taylor along with signing rookies will put us over the cap..

PUT IN JACKSON!

i have to agree here..i like edwards and robison, but with udeze out, you can afford to get this guy for at least a year..therefore youve got the best d line depth on earth, and the best front 4 in the history of football..were talking about 5 sacks a game being a realistic expectation when you consider how well EJ and Leber are in blitz situationsJust found this too -

you give up a 2nd round pick, but at the same time you can look and say that a good part of this roster will be back next season anyways, and that we can worry about filling a couple of holes in a couple years..weve got sharpers replacement, now we just need one for birk, and were set for the next 5 years anywaysPeople who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

Re: Pack interested in Jason Taylor?
Pure greed I am reading here in this thread.. you want to add yet another DE to that line.. come now.. curb your spending.
On the down side.. don't Allen and Taylor line up at the same spot on the Dline.. and won't that make the edges of your defense a little weaker vs the run?

allen is a good run coverage guy as well..in terms of sides of the line, that stuff is moot, especially since you see the elite rushers line up on different sides of the line numerous times throughout gamesPure greed I am reading here in this thread.. you want to add yet another DE to that line.. come now.. curb your spending.

also, how good do your ends need to be against the run when youve got the williams wall in the middle, antoine winfield stepping up in run coverage, and ej henderson, a pro bowl caliber MLB with great tackling skills?
in regards to spending, like i said, wilf stated he would spend whatever was needed, so that little bit of luxury tax shouldnt be a factorPeople who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

Re: Pack interested in Jason Taylor?
Of course you don't want to see us getting Jason Taylor. I wouldn't want to see you guys getting a Pro Bowler as well.
If we can afford it, we should do it. Not always how it should be, but this could be a big plus for us.
We know our QB isn't going to be all world, and therefore we will have to win our way through the season relying a lot on defense. The Giants won the Super Bowl by playing amazing defense and even sub par offense (other than a miracle play) so why can't we? What Eli did in the SB was about what T-Jack could have done.

IF they can afford to get him and it makes the Vikings better, then to do otherwise would be a betrayal of the fan base by the ownership.
Red McCombs has already given Vikings fans enough betrayal to last a lifetime...my lifetime anyways.
Sounds like you are a bit afraid, 93z...afraid that the Vikings will finally bring that Super Bowl trophy home to roost and take away one of the "old reliable" digs that you Pack fans seem to always fall back on. Trust me, I am a Yankees fan and I know how it looks from the other side.
:PBANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

Re: Pack interested in Jason Taylor?
Although I agree, it would be pretty duanting to look across at that line, but seriously, do we really think that in the long run it would make us that much better?
I for one don't.
Let Ray, Jayme and the crew hold down the LDE position and let JA and Rob hold down the right.
Rotate them around as Olson says (they do it all the time anyway) and sprinkle in a few sets were you have 1 DT and 3 DE's and you would get the same productivity and not break what little bank we have left.
Again, it would be nice, but I really don't think it would be necessary. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
