I think we should offer counseling services for Bears fans at PP.O.
I can think of lots of free advice to share.

Re: The Official Super Bowl Exit Poll

This was posted on another site without a link:

    AP-IL--Bears Return,0106
Bears have quiet return to Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Bears are back home after their Super Bowl loss in Miami. There were no fans at O'Hare International Airport tonight to meet the team that left to so much fan fare last week.

Players who were pointing cameras everywhere to record their arrival at Miami, kept them stowed away as they came down the stairs from their chartered United Airlines flight.

They said nothing to the news media crowd that gathered to observe their arrival. The team, led by coach Lovie Smith, walked directly to the motor coaches parked nearby that were to take them to Halas Hall in Lake Forest.......
    Fairweather bastards.
It's irrelevant that it was the middle of the night and it was -30F.

I wondered over to dabearz.com to see how they were feeling. I can't believe that many of them still think Rex is good, he has been, and always will be a chump

Re: The Official Super Bowl Exit Poll

    Worth a read.

    PFT TEN-PACK:
    SUPER BOWL XLI

In particular, I liked this breakdown:

    7.
    Manning Won MVP On Reputation.

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning shouldn't have been named the MVP of Super Bowl XLI.
    Period.
The award should have gone to running back Dominic Rhodes.
And if rookie running back Joseph Addai, who was only one catch from tying the Super Bowl single-game record, hadn't mysteriously disappeared from the offensive attack just when it looked like Addai might be the first rookie to win the MVP award, he might have secured the free Cadillac and place in Super Bowl history.

    Is it just our opinion?
Based on Super Bowl history, it's a fact.

    Consider Super Bowl XXV.
Giants running back Ottis Anderson won the MVP award with 21 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown, and one reception for seven yards.
Left in the dust was quarterback Jeff Hostetler, the original "game manager."
Hostetler, a former WVU quarterback who transferred from Penn State after they wanted to make him into a linebacker, completed 20 of 32 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown.

His passer rating for the game?
    93.4.

    Fast forward 16 years.
Rhodes, like Anderson, had 21 carries, one touchdown, and one reception.
But Rhodes had 11 more yards rushing, and one more yard receiving, than Anderson.

    Manning's passer rating?
    81.8.

    Let's put this in perspective.
For the 2006 season, David Carr, Jake Delhomme, and Mark Brunell had better passer ratings than 81.8.

And among all of the 21 quarterback performances that resulted in a Super Bowl MVP award, Manning's was statistically the worst.

Only Joe Namath's 83.3 in Super Bowl III was even close, and Tom Brady's 86.2 in Super Bowl XXXVI was the only other MVP passer rating under 90.

(We know this because we calculated all 21 of them on Wednesday night.
    Every one of them.
    The best?
Phil Simms in Super Bowl XXI, who generated a 150.9.)

So how did Peyton Manning win the MVP?
    Because he's Peyton Manning.

And because the voting is done on the fly, with no opportunity for reflection or research or deliberation.

    Our suggestion?
Name the Super Bowl MVP at halftime of the Pro Bowl.
It'll give the voters a chance to think things through more carefully.

And it actually might give folks a reason to watch the otherwise boring game that concludes the NFL season.

Re: The Official Super Bowl Exit Poll

I didn't want him to get the MVP, I voted for Rhodes.
I felt he was the guy that started the game strong, and ended the game strong.
He really worked for what he got.
If it would have been a one RB deal in the backfield, the guy would have got it.
But in true Colts fashion, it was a team effort.
Payton just seems to be the face of that team.
And, he is becoming "the" elite face for the NFL.

I remember Simms saying he had a vote, then he started commenting on it and cut himself off before saying which way he was leaning.
I wish he would have finished his sentence.

They intervied Raheem Brock in philly (he's from here) about the superbowl and he was remarking how they had 8 in the box the whole game because everybody knew that Rex wasn't gonna beat him with his arm.
