Nike plans to "dramatically" change NFL jerseys

On the day that the NFL announced Nike will replace Reebok as the league's uniform supplier in 2012, a Nike official said changes are coming to NFL jerseys.

Nike Brand President Charlie Denson told Darren Rovell of CNBC that the change would be similar to changes that Nike has made to college football jerseys.

"We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we've done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available," Denson said. "The NFL program hasn't had the same type of advancement in recent years.

After years of Reebok leading the way on NFL jerseys, it will be interesting to see what dramatic changes Nike comes up with. I just hope no NFL team follows the hideous example of Oregon in college football.

Yuck, I hope we don't get stuck with that! The current jerseys look bad enough...

I like 'em.

So are the teams primary colors going to change for every other team, too?

urgh.. well they know what can be done with those - if ain't broke then don't fix it !

I can hardly wait to see guys with big beer guts wearing those in the stands...that will be attractive. LOL

LOL, the changes won't be to the color pallet or design, it will be in the deisgn of teh fabric and pads itself. Our jerseys will still look the same.

Unlike college, where Nike can pretty much dictate what the teams who are under contract with them can wear, the NFL and the teams dictate to Nike what they will wear.

No chance the Not Fun League is going to go all futuristic on the look of the jerseys.

OK, so the uniforms are fake and many of them look terrible, but I saw some nice ideas too. Most notably the Redskins helmet.
