That was pretty cool! At this rate the next one I see will be in 2069! If I live that long I guess.

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

Click here for a video of the drop-kick. It's nestled within some other stuff 30 sec. or so into the video. Also a slot in the video with Moss' reaction to the Raiders getting stuffed at the goal line, he had a point.

He knocked it right down the pipe, I am impressed. Doug Flutie will now be my hero until I leave work today.
If I hear Michelle Bonner say "He works that one to right" one more time, I m getting on a plane for Bristol, going to the ESPNEWS set, and ripping out her vocal cords.

    Yea,

I've heard he has practiced that kick for many years, going back to his college days..

I think I've read or heard, he can even hit them from 40 yards out on a somewhat constent basis..

I guess he talked the coach into letting him give it a try......It's said he makes them on a reagular basis when practicing them for fun on his own.....

Well, the link for the video didn't work when I clicked it (got an error page), but I found this video on the same site:

    http://www.youtube.com/w/Doug-Flutie-drop-kick-convert?v=9GNKHsrSTgI&search=NFL%20Drop%20Kick

If anyone else is having trouble with the first link, maybe this second link will help.

Re: NFL's first drop kick in 64 years

If a kicker could make it through the goal posts consistently, the drop kick would bring the advantage of having an extra blocker in the formation because of the non-need of the ball holder.

On NFL Total Access, an official was talking about the kick. He said that the Patriots had told the officiating crew about the possible drop kick before the game so they would be ready.

The official also said that a drop kick could be used instead of kickoffs and punts. I don’t think it would be an advantage in those situations.
