In the NFL, it is becoming very fashionable to wear white after Labor Day.

It used to be that dark uniform jerseys were worn at home, and white ones on the road -- except, of course, if you were the Dallas Cowboys or Washington Redskins.

No more. Through the first seven weeks of the season, 15 teams have decided to wear their white jerseys at home. Nine have done it more than once.

Through 103 games, 30 times teams have worn their whites at home rather than the traditional darks (29 percent). In those games, the white-wearing home teams are 16-14.

"I think they are doing it because of the weather in some of these cities gets hot," said Steelers long-time equipment manager Rodgers Freyvogel.

That could be true for warm-climate teams such Miami, San Diego, Tampa Bay and Houston, but how do you explain New Orleans wearing white in all three of its home games at the Superdome?
I don't recall the Vikings *ever* wearing white jerseys at home in the Dome.
    Anyone?

I don't remember ever seeing the Vikings at home in white , I was about to start a long rant about how New Orleans is a warm wether climate too , but the dome thermostat controls the temp I guess.

Never in the dome, but the Vikings wore their white jerseys at home the entire 1964 season - with the exception of the Lions game, where they started in white but ended in purple. (This BTW, was also only one of two games where the Vikings wore purple on purple).

During the 1964 season, the Vikings along with several other NFL teams wore their white jerseys for home games to allow their fans to see what the other teams primary jerseys looked like. The Lions played at Met Stadium on October 11. The Lions only brought their white jerseys. The Vikings had also brought their white jerseys to the stadium. The team practiced at Midway Stadium in St. Paul and that is where they stored their equipment. Both teams started the game in their white jerseys. By the second quarter the Vikings had been able to get their purple jerseys to Met Stadium. The team changed jerseys on the sidelines and finished the game in purple jerseys and purple pants. It wasn't until 43 years later, on December 17, 2007 (a Monday Night Football game versus the Chicago Bears) that the Vikings again donned all purple jerseys and pants.

Teams think they'll get more holding and pass interference calls because another players hands stand out against white. Just a theory, don't know if it's true or not.

    I hope this isn't sarcasm.
I mean, you can bullshit some guys, but not another military man.
Nobody spends more time discussing clothing and attire than we do.

We literally wrote the book on it.

I personally like the white with purple pants ... but I don't want to see the all white at home.
