For the fans i dont think they care so much about the injurys, its just that they want the season to start sooner with meaningful games. I dont know about you guys but 4 preseason games is just boring. Id rather this game coming up against the steelers is the last preseason game then onto the regular season the next weekI don't know what everyone is complaining about. Portis's injury and Greenway's injury both happened in the FIRST game of the pre-season, so if there were two games or four games or six games in the preseason it wouldn't matter.

Re: Is The NFL Preseason Too Long?
They should make the season 20 games long...4 weeks for playoffs, 4 weeks for training camp...and 20 preseason games where the rookies and free agents play to determine who makes the team as backups.
That way, WE would have football practically YEAR ROUND!!!BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

Re: Is The NFL Preseason Too Long?
I personally think Portis just was crying about being injured and used preseason as an excuse.
Injurys are a part of the game and thats the bottom line.
Does it suck that he and Greenway are injured?....Of course (well hopefully Portis stays out of the season opener against the vikes
) but it's just the nature of the beast.
Keep the 4 preseason games or maybe even go with 3 but all in all I still think they need preseason and that cutting back to 2 games and making the season 18 games is a mistake.
2 preseason games don't give team's enough time to pick who they do and do not want to keep on the roster, plus it allows team to gell and get on the same page.

Re: Is The NFL Preseason Too Long?
No its not to long. The younger players need playing time to let the coaches see what they can do. Also you need to go up against different teams in game situations to get ready for the season. It is your choice how long you play your starters. If they get injured it sucks. But it could also happen the first play of the regular season. Its just a part of playing football.

Re: Is The NFL Preseason Too Long?
Heck yeah. All they really need is two pre-season games to see who will make it and who is faking it.

Re: Is The NFL Preseason Too Long?
Instead of game checks they should pay the players weekly just like you and me. If they don't want to play the preseason, then they make less. If they don't show up on time or don't practice in the preseason, they make less money.
That way the owners are paying the players for the time they are playing and are not getting the preseason play for "Free" ( Even if they aren't) and the players either have something to play for, or if the money is no big deal they are not getting paid to not play.
Postseason would be paid above and beyond the normal salary just like it is now.
