Thread: NFL to look at shorting draft time!!!

After the record 6 hour 1st round of the draft the NFL is looking at the possibility of shortening the 1st round to 10 minutes / 7 minutes 2nd round / 5 minutes for rest of the rounds. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Always felt 15 minutes was to long.




Also on the table:
Moving the 1st round to Friday night.

I hope they don't do that.

Time limits might be shortened for draft picks

Looking for a streamlined, more manageable and maybe ready-for-primetime NFL draft? Apparently, so is commissioner Roger Goodell.

Perhaps as a precursor to eventually presenting the first round as a primetime event, likely on a Friday, Goodell is expected to broach the subject of reducing the time limits for making selections in the first two rounds when owners convene next Tuesday in Nashville for the league's annual spring meeting.

This year's draft included the longest first round in history, at six hours and eight minutes. It also had the longest first day, with the first three rounds stretching 11 hours, four minutes.

I agree the 15 min thing is WAY to long. I can see maybe doing the 1st - 20 at 15 min then move everything down to 5 mins.

I say you go in the opposite direction and extend the draft so that each team has 24 hours to make there pick. That way all the fans have some thing to talk about during the long 7 months of offseason. ;D

Teams would still be drafting by the time the season starts.

If the NFL is trying to turn it into an extension of the regualr season (silly observation) . . . please shorten the draft times.

I don't think they should change the first round to Friday, that would suck and I wouldn't be able to attend the draft party at winter park then and I would be PISSED if I couldn't do that!

I'm all for the shortening the time, and actually like the #'s they are toying with, but as for the Friday night draft I'm against that also.
Maybe move it to Saturday evening instead of during the day but not Friday.
I work on Fridays.

Yeah, 15 minutes for a pick seems outrageous if you ask me, just shorten the time, but leave the days the same.
