Re: NFL league officials to visit Minny to talk about new stadium

Agreed and I think that we are on the same point but why are two average Joe's like you and I are talking about these issues instead of the lawmakers.
The windfall that the state could receive from this is large and there are other items that should indeed take precedent but it is just SAD!

I live in AZ now and they got a stadium paid for by the state and the team is and has been horrible!
Infrastructure out here is horrid, as well and we have the worst education system in the country, yet we have 3 brand new shiny stadiums.

MN needs to get a little looser with the purse-strings which means raising taxes and using those funds for things that bring further return to MN.
I just dont know why or how for so long we cannot break out of this little market team, with low payrolls and fan apathy.
Our teams need to take some precedent or suffer the fate of the Stars.

Good exchange MCarter, and I hope that they figure something out soon.
While I love the idea of the Vikings in LA just so I am closer it would be tough to root for them if Minnesota wasnt part of the name or franchise idenity anymore.

Its a shame when the Gophers should have been the last one as they could have moved to the Dome and funds couldve gone to the Vikes first.

Hi Cajunvike....I have not followed the stadium issues in Minnesota very closely and not living there I don't hear or read a lot about it. Is it that they need a larger (More Seating) stadium?? I was under the impression (Looking at it on TV) that the current stadium is huge....and really not that old considering??? Are there other issues I am not aware of??

    Thanks.....Cheers!
The Vikings want a new stadium so that they can make more revenue and compete with the rest of the teams.
That is ALWAYS the case...it's never about the size of the stadium.
More specifically, there are nto enough premium seats or suites in the dome to make it profitable for the Vikings.
Plus it doesn't meet current NFL standards.
Not to mention it is 25 years old, and outdated in terms of fan conveniences.

Thats because Singer scoops them all up at bargin prices... ;D

Now there's a thought I never heard mentioned before, but sounds like it could have been a good idea to me......

AND, the Vikings have a terrible lease with the Metropolitan Sports Commission (MSC) that severly restricts the amound of revenue that they receive from game-day sales.

    =Z=
AND, the designs of the newer stadiums offer better sight lines for fans sitting in all price ranges. I have never heard anyone say of the Dome.. 'there isn't a bad seat in the house.' Also, the fake turf tends to not be very popular with the players. Obviously, there many other issues.
Then you obviously haven't been paying attention. I've said more than once and so have a few others. Other than a few "limited view" seats, there really isn't one. The rows only go back into the thirties, not the fifties & beyond like some stadiums.
