What the hell is he talking about? Guess my level of excitement is a bit lower than his. Although not alot of Highs, there was some good stuff, even under Tice.
So are you telling me that this hasn't been the most exciting season of the decade?

If your telling me that this wasn't the most exciting season as a fan, then your "disdain" for Favre has taken full control of you.

When you're marrdro there's more to analyze when the team isn't obviously good (plus wildwoman has a crush on Favre which pisses him off).
    LOL, you crack me up.

Look, I've said this has been the most exciting season that I can remember in a long time alot. Thats not the point. The point is that there have been alot of excitement over this decade. Maybe not the most, but excitement none-the-less.

So are you telling me that this hasn't been the most exciting season of the decade?

2000- 41-0, not predicted as favourites. exciting, but not hugely
    2001 - 5-11, missed playoffs (not exciting)
    2002 - 6-10, missed playoffs
2003 - 9-7, missed playoffs (exciting in the sense that we got knocked out last second by the cards)
2004 - 8-8, backed into playoffs (exciting regular season STATS, and a great playoff win in Lambeau, but fell short because we really weren't that good)
2005 - 9-7, nothing special really, Brad Johnson led our exitement here
2006 - 6-10, Brad Childress and Brad Johnson led us to an exciting 6-10 record. Peterson filled the void with actual excitement at times
2007 - 8-8, still, no playoffs, Peterson still exciting, but we were not a very good team
2008 - 10-6, Looking better, Defense playing better, and we could rely on the excitement of not knowing who our QB would be. We didn't expect to go far, and we didn't
2009 - 12-4, Sign Favre, get Harvin, exciting. First round bye.. exciting. Stomp the cowgirls... exciting. Being predicted all season as a superbowl team, exciting.

If your telling me that this wasn't hte most exciting season as a fan, then your "disdain" for Favre has taken full control of you.
Were did the "the most exciting season of the decade" come from? The man said "Failed to excite in the decade until Favre arrived in 2009".

Not sure about him, but I've been excited several times (over the Vikes) in this decade.
Doesn't count if you used Viagra, Marty.

Fans of the game and team can find excitement if the team goes 0-16 by just focusing on specific aspects of the game and analyzing that (but that doesn't count). Once again you are forced to toss Favre's post-game jock over your head, backwards, and take 10 deep breaths and rethink your stance.

I'm excited every year when training camp starts. As to this decade...

I was excited in 2000 when the Vikings started 7-0, before fading to 11-5. I was also excited right before the start of the NFC Championship that year.

I don't think I was ever excited in 2001, but I must have been, at some point, during the 35-13 ass-whupping they put on the Packers in Week 7. Oh, wait, 2001 is when I flew with my wife as an anniversary present to watch the season-opener in the Metrodome on Sept. 9th. I was excited for that experience, right up until they lost to the eventual 1-15 Carolina Panthers.

I was excited in 2002 when the Vikings won their last 3 games of the season, because that pointed to better things than 6-10 in 2003.

I was excited in 2003 when the Vikings started 6-0 before they faded to 9-7, including losses to all 4 of the 4-12 teams in the NFL that year. And, of course, choking in Arizona (fuck you, Nate Poole).

I was excited in 2004 when the Vikings snuck into the playoffs and then beat the stupid Packers - on their field - in the wild-card round.

I was excited in 2005 when the Vikings ripped off 6 straight wins in the middle of the season to get back into playoff contention. I was especially excited after I moved to the TC area in November and then got to watch the Vikings beat Cleveland and St. Louis, before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Steelers in Mike Tice's last meaningful game. I was also excited to hear about Tice getting fired in the drive home following the victory over a Bears team that wasn't trying.

I was excited in 2006 with the dawn of a new era (the KAO arrives!), the FA signings of Chester Taylor and Steve Hutchinson and precious few actual games, although the win in Seattle sticks out in my mind.

I was excited in 2007 with the drafting of AD and Sid Rice, the 296 game (I was there!) and the progression of the team from 6-10 to 8-8. My first season as a season-ticket-holder, too, as well as the first year of tailgating in the shadow of the Dome.

I was excited in 2008 with the NFC North Division Championship, the trade for Jared Allen, the victory over the Packers at home, the game-winning kick by Longwell over the Giants (except for when Mars attacked my ribs) and the hope for 2009.

I was excited in 2009 by the signing of Favre, the perfect record at the Dome, the NFC North Division Championship, my chance to watch the Vikings kick-butt in St. Louis, the playoff ass-whupping of the Cowboys and the hope for 2010.

So, yes, as Marty notes, I've been excited - at some point - by every season this past decade. I don't think I've ever been as excited, or ready, for a new season to start as I am now, however.

    =Z=

    Re:NFL: the last decade.

I found it interesting in the second breakdown with the number of playoff appearances that 90% of the Lombardis were won by teams at the top of the heap. I wasn't surprised by the Iggles being in that choke category, but forgot that the Packers made that many appearances and chokes like there was no tomorrow at one of the highest rates of any team with playoff appearances. That made me feel warm and fuzzy.
