I'll start off this 8 part mini-series with the only Division I feel comfortable talking about with any authority whatsoever.
The NFC North.
Ahh the black and blue division, how I do love you....

It's tough to read an article from a guy that basically calls himself a moron and biased and then tries to be objective.

I agree with the second pick, but I hate him for hating my Vikes. If the Packers end up being kaput though, my second choice would have to be the Minnesota Vikings (the team I hate the most...ever.)

Re: NFL Division Champion Predictions: NFC North
I wonder how big of a following this guy really has?
:
His deep and insightfull breakdown of the div
Is probably why he has only 1 comment so far and it is from a so called "Vikings Fan".When you break it down, "Da Bears Still Suck," the Vikings can't throw the ball, and the Lions are still just the Lions.
Makes one want to cry doesn't it?
:'(Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: NFL Division Champion Predictions: NFC North
Well, the Packers' questions are evident and all revolve around Rodgers.
If he's the next coming of Steve Young (the only instance I can recall where a backup comes in and does as well or better than a hall of famer) then, sure the Packers win the division.
IMO it sucks we play them first, cuz there isn't any tape on him to help us come up with the right defensive attack.
All in all, I suspect he makes some mistakes, and they end up around 8-8 in his first year at the helm.
Duh Bears pulled Duh dumb move last year trading away TJones and relying on Benson alone.
This year they cast off their best two WRs and sign a couple of proven not better than yous to replace them.
They also have issues with age and ability on their OLine.
IF the defense can stay healthy, they'll still lose lots of close games.
On top of that, they've got two questionable QB signed for 1 year a piece...not exactly looking for continuity or future there.
My prediction, 6-10
The Lions have been scary on paper for years but always turn it into tears by the end of the season.
Kelly and Smith have Tampa2 experience and know the HC there, so they may help.
Cutting Bailey leaves a hole at LB, and their OL straight stinks.
Oh, they let their best RB go too.
Still lots of potential with lots of holes inbetween.
Probably right there with the Bears.
It almost looks to me like this division is doing everything in its power to give it up to the Purple Pride!
We're an up and coming team with tons of youthful talent that just missed the playoffs last year and, IMHO have had possibly the best off season in the league (certainly in the NFC Norse!!)
If we can stay mostly healthy (and out of trouble McDummy!) AND get any where near the talent out of this year's draft that we did last year, the division should be ours.Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!

Re: NFL Division Champion Predictions: NFC North
My guess is that the Vikes and Packs will dominate the NFC North for a couple of years if not the other teams get some major key additions in the draft, trade or free agency.
The funny thing about the NFC North now is that all the teams are really bad at QB.
Packers have Rodgers - unproven
Vikigns have Tarvaris Jackson - very raw
Bears have Grossmann - I think he got potentials... to get the record for most interceptions in a season
Lions have Kitna - the scary thing is... he might be the best in the NFC North
In my opinion, the NFC North ranks last when it comes to quarterbacks.
Even so, the NFC North have done pretty good the last two years. First we had a team in the Super Bowl, then we had a team in the NFC Championship game.
Not bad considering the NFC North has the reputation to be one of the weakest divisions in the league. Well, not anymore
;D

Re: NFL Division Champion Predictions: NFC North
GB will be scouring the FA pool for a QB by week five after Rodgers is injured & Brohm looks like a lost pup on the field.
They will finish 3rd in the division.
