Maybe the NFL shouldn't allow teams to schedule any camps on that weekend.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Why don't they schedule this event around minicamps?

Sounds fine to me, Packers don't need everybody to practice being bad.

I think thats a little warped.

I would be pissed if that was a Viking they did that to.

    Thanks Josdin00 for the sig!

I believe the question is, "why didn't the Packers schedule minicamp around this event?"
My understanding is that this was known to everyone, and only a few teams had camps scheduled at this specific time.
I think this article suggests that it was a surpise that the event was mandatory.
    I doubt it.
My feeling is that the Packers decided that this was a convenient time to hold their camp, with or without the rookie.

Of course, my opinion is based largely upon what I read at profootballtalk, so use it as you will.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

You're mostly right, in that, I think the Packers scheduled their mini-camp for this weekend (which would have been done weeks ago, before the draft) w/out any thought to this event.
I bet it wasn't even on their radar - and if it was, I'm sure they just didn't care one way or another.

The Vikings aren't starting their OTAs until 5/22 (next Tuesday) and the first mini-camp starts 6/1.
The agent is spewing his poopoo at the wrong entity.
Once again, Ted Thompson has managed to screw something up for the Pack!

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
