The compensatory picks are based on the 2008
free agency so we won't get any because we added a bunch of FAs and didn't lose anybody if we get a compensatory pick for Matt Birk it would be in the 2010 draft based on what we did with the 2009 free agency.
The pick Chicago got in round 3 was probably for us signing Berrian and I'd assume one of the Bengals six or pair of seven rounders was for us signing Madieu.
I am thinking about starting a whole new spreadsheet just for cats like you.
Excellent post. ;D
A 'shining beacon of light' column! Looks like the 'ability to interpret offensive line-play intricacies' (ATIOLPI) column is now playing second fiddle.

Vikings receive no compensatory picks in the 2009 draft
http://www.wrn.com/gestalt/go.cfm?objectid=3696ECE3-5056-B82A-370DA537D0F642F7
Please remember that this is based upon 2008 free agents lost and gained. The Chicago Bears extra 3rd round pick is 99th overall.
They also get two seventh round picks.
The Detroit Lions get one 7th round pick and the Minnesota Vikings, like the Packers, were shut out.
The pickup of Berrian was more than enough to compensate for the loss of people like Tony Richardson.

Violence, sex, and drugs.

Maybe that's why the Vikings haven't made any significant signings this year. They want extra picks so they have ammo to trade up for a QB next year.that sucks but we should get a couple next year, loosing birk and shaper....

As others have noted, this is based upon 2008 Free Agency. We lose Sharper and Birk and get nothing. The pats loose Cassell and Varbel and get a 3rd?
WTF
The Patriots TRADED Cassell and Vrabel, so that will have no bearing on the 2010 compensatory picks.

Although that doesn't specifically mention the Vikings....however, mods should please merge these two if they feel it is necessary.
