NFC Playoff Picture, week 9 Edition

With all the NFC games finished for week 9, we're starting to get a good idea of who will be making a push for the playoffs.
We can see the good teams and the not-so good teams.
Obviously its still very early, and lots can happen, but this is what the playoff picture currently looks like.

    1. New Orleans Saints (8-0) - Currently undefeated, and don't have a tough schedule ahead.
16-0 is a possibility, but it won't be because they earned it.
Only really two tough games for them, Pats and Falcons again.
Currently have a 3 game lead in the division.
    Predicted final record: 14-2.

    2. Minnesota Vikings (7-1) - Two relatively easy wins coming up, and a fairly easy schedule through the stretch.
Not much to say, everything I can say has already been said about us here.
Currently own a 3 game lead in the division.
    Predicted final record: 14-2

    3. Dallas Cowboys (6-2) - Seems to be a fair gap between the #2 and #3 seed so far.
A decent team, not on the same level as the Saints or Vikings though.
Currently one game up in their division, not a lock to win or even make the playoffs.
    Predicted record: 10-6

    4. Arizona Cardinals (5-3) - Can be a very good team, can also be fairly bad.
Consistency issues so far, but in such a bad division, are the likely winners of the NFCS.
Currently own a two game lead in the division.
    Predicted record: 9-7

    ------Wild Card-------

    5. Philadelphia Eagles (6-2) - Potential Division winners, could also slip out of this wild card spot.
Similar to the Cardinals, can be good at times, and bad at times.
Consistentcy through the final stretch will be key for this team.
Currently down one game in their division.
    Predicted record: 10-6, Division Winner

    6. Atlanta Falcons (6-2) - This team has looked pretty good at times this season.
Certainly not a team to be taken lightly.
Will have a hard time topping the Saints for the division, but possible if the Saints slip up.
Currently back two games in the division.
    Predicted record: 11-5

------Teams on the outside looking in---------
    7. New York Giants (5-4) - still pleanty of time for them to snap out of their funk, but they'll need to start soon.
With two other good teams in that division, They'll have to play some of their best football in the next two months to have a shot.
Currently down 2 games in the division.
    Predicted record: 9-7

    8. Green Bay packers (4-4) - Gonna have a tough time having a shot at the division as they've already played the Vikings twice..
Need to play very well for the rest of the season and hope the Vikings slip up.
Wild card will be hard too.
IMO this team doesn't have a chance this season.
Back 3 games in the division.
    Predicted Record: 7-9

    9. Chicago Bears (4-4) - have a better shot than the Packers of taking the division, but still a hard task for them.
They have two upcoming games against the Vikings and one against the Packers, winning all three would put them in a much better position, but if the last two games are any indication of how they'll be playing, fans should be prepared to be let down.
Currently back 3 games in the division.
    Predicted Record: 7-9

    Predicted Final Playoff Seedings:

    1. Minnesota Vikings - Who else would I pick?
    (14-2)
    2. New Orleans Saints - gonna drop a couple down the stretch, and show that they are human after all (14-2)
    3. Philadelphia Eagles - Going to edge out the Cowboys in week 17 to take the division back, (10-6)
    4. Arizona Cardinals - Not going to take much to win this division.
    (9-7)
    ----------------------
    5. Atlanta Falcons - A good team, that could even go deep in the playoffs, depending on who they play.
Will be playing mostly on the road though, so we'll see how they can manage that.
    (11-5)
    6. Dallas Cowboys - Will lose week 17 to the eagles, but still have a game up on everyone else playoff worthy.
Sneak in, and for the 14th consecutive year the Cowboys will not win a playoff game.
    (10-6)

Re: NFC Playoff Picture, week 9 Edition

I think it is too early to even think about it.
The bucs can still finish 9-7 and take the division (yes, the math says it is possible). Until teams are officially eliminated, then we can start to make threads like this. After this week, no question some teams put some series dents in their hopes to make the playoffs, but there is not a big enough gap to just write teams off.
I like to think the 9ers can still win that division, with Giants and Falcons are wildcard teams, Eagles division winners, and saints and vikings take first round bye.
    We're bringing purple back.

    Bite your tongue.
Its never to early to speculate on anything.....

I would switch the Cowboys and the Iggles.

    a.
Both have pretty cup cake schedules:

Dal - GB, WAS, OAK, NYG, SD, NO, WAS, PHI
Iggles - SD, CHI, WAS, ATL, NYG, SF, DEN, DAL

    b.
Both seem to be about the same caliber of team (Play makers).

    c.
Both don't have the same caliber of coaching staff.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Let's see how the Vikings come out of the gate after the bye...

This team seems pretty resolute, and I think Chiller will keep them in line, but still.. having time to reflect on small accomplishments thus far can tend to lead to laziness.

    Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

Screw Chiller, he's a cross dresser.

Favre, AD, Hutch, Allen, Winfield, and EJ will keep each of their groups in line.
These players have leadership and passion not to let them get soft and complacent.

Barring a Romo December meltdown, your assessment is pretty good.

    b is false.

c... you got to be kidding me. Wade Phillips is no where near Andy Reid.

Either way you look at it I believe the Vikings are making the playoffs.
I believe that the Saints are going to lose one game before season's end.
I bleieve that MN will have a first round bye with the Aint's.
I think The Aint's will lose there first playoff game like always.
For the rest I don't care because the Vikings are going to take it.
The Pack, the Pack, gonna smack the Pack.

Re: NFC Playoff Picture, week 9 Edition

I think we would have really benefited from a Saints loss to Carolina, but I do think the Saints will drop an NFC game down the stretch to either Carolina, Atlanta and/or Dallas. I also think they will fall against New England.
We will have our opportunity at the No. 1 seed, but we might have to go 8-0 to get it.
