I have a hard time believing the Fudgepackers get a C. If you go back to AR which is a steal at 23 or something like that. They got AJ Hawk who is an above ave. LB and last year they did very well in getting Matthews and Raji so just those guys alone deserve a B. That's not including Jermichael Finley who is going to be a great TE and huge mismacth against us and I would say the Pukers beserve at least a B+. If I were grading them I think the last two drafts were between a B+ & A- IMO!
Fist of all, like "JerBearLuvsDaVikes" said, Arron Rodgers was drafted in 2005, and A.J. Hawk was drafted in 2006.
Secondly, I completely disagree with you. The Packers was lucky to be graded as the second best draft team in the NFC North.
2007 Packers draft class: The 1st round pick was DT Justin Harrell, in other words: Who? He has barely seen the field in three seasons. The 2nd round pick was Brandon Jackson who has done close to nothing. The rest of the picks were not exactly spectacular either, but at least they got something out of it with Korey hall, Mason Crosby, and James Jones.
Those two alone would get a D+ or C. I would love to have drafted Crosby.
2008 Packers draft class: No 1st round picks, but two second round picks that were used on WR Jordy Nelson
and QB Brian Brohm. Brohm was released, and Nelson is just a backup. They got a steal in the 3rd round with Jermichael Finley, but there is nothing to write about after that.
Grade: C (how can you even think about giving them a B+?)
Jordy is also a kick returner and has played slot with very good hands. But C sounds fair. Finley I am afriad will be a star! Matt Flynn by all acounts is a serviceable backup. C+ for me.
2009 Packers draft class: Two 1st round picks. Clay Matthews III is a great play-maker at the outside linebacker position, but I'm not convinced that DT B. J. Raji deserved to go in the top 10
. OL T.J. Lang is still a project. This was definitely the Packers best draft class in the last three seasons, mostly because of Clay "fumble Forcer" Matthews.
That may be but he is a very good player and came on at the end of the year. Lets put it this way if we had two picks in the first round and got Matthews at 7 and Raji at 25 would we be happy, hell yeah. So where they got them doesn't matter as much as the fact they got two very good players with those picks. that is how I look at it, not necessarily where you got them but are they starters (well, Raji is in the rotation). Raji probably didn't deserve to go that high but he still is by no means a bust either. T. J. is a very good prospect. I have a Puker friend who has said that T. J. is going to be a very good RT but will struggle at LT so you have probably int he next year or so another starter from this draft class.
So a B is fine but with three starters and Mathhews I would rate this class a little higher B+
My overall grade of the Packers last three drafts: C
