Despite rampant reports that the Chiefs are negotiating with former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan to replace Herm Edwards, they are not, sources said Friday.

The Chiefs never have made any contact with Shanahan — never. And there have been no contract negotiations.

So unless people I have known for years are blatantly lying to me, Shanahan will not be the next coach of the Chiefs. It’s not happening. People can keep talking as if it is, but it’s not. Shanahan will not be the coach of the Chiefs in 2009.

ESPN Talking heads are saying Shanahan probably won't take the job.

Not sure why, think it would be a good fit.

He runs a totally different scheme than KC. They would have to change over everything on the offense except the QB to convert.

Much better to get a coach from the Pittsburgh/ Dallas/ SD line of coaching so they don't have to reinvent the wheel.

It might not be feasible(system wise)but it would be funny... Shanny sticking it to the Broncos twice a year for the next 5 years or more.


I have 2 brothers that live in Colorado(huge Bronoco fans) and I would take great joy in razzing them every time that happened.

When it comes to former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, the coaching rumor mill is in hyperdrive.

Amid reports Shanahan will be on the sidelines for the Kansas City Chiefs sooner rather than later, several people close to Shanahan reached during the past 48 hours repeatedly have said there has been no formal contact between Shanahan and the Chiefs....

With $46 Mil in available CAP and a host of picks I think it wouldn't take long to reshape that mess.
