Re: Ned's weekly pic tips and stats, when it comes to Spreads and O/U's....

Tip, never bet on your own team.
I have only put down like 4 bets on NFL games in the last 10 years, and I did bet on the Vikings a couple of times.
    It was painful.
If they win, it is great if they lose, it totally sucks
Doubly Sucks = team loses and money gone.

You are a true gambler (take this as a compliment) if you can seperate yourself from feeling crappy about betting on your own team.
I am not a true gambler, just don't have thatin my blood.

That is so true in most cases Snow, because most people bet with their heart and not with a true honest look at the game and the possible outcome..

Again, years ago I would bet on the Vikings without even thinking about the spread or who we where up against....I lost alot of money because of this, but at the same time, you should know your favorite team and it's strengths and weeknesses, better than any other team out there.
I learned how to bet with my head and not my heart at some point and I'll admit it, YES there was times I would lay my money down against the Vikings when I thought it was the right call, but always in my heart, we are unbeatable... ;D

I don't like to bet on the Vikings.
It has burnt me in the past, because when it comes down to it, I don't like be thrown into a situation where I am rooting for the Vikes to lose to cover a bet.

Anyway, I am glad to know there are others out there on this site that like to throw some change around on the games.
Anyway, I had a great week 1st week, went 5-1, but that is neither here nor there, because I did not record my bets on this site.

Anyway, I got a bit carried away (and drunk) the other night and made this wager.

    4 Game Teaser

    Bills/Dolphins-----over 37
    Browns/Bengals----over 42
    Giants/Eagles------over 42
    Redskins/Cowboys-------Skins +6

    Other action:

Bought points on the Bengals-------took them at -7.5

    4 Game Sweethart Teaser

    Ravens-----even
    Colts--------

    -1
    Bengals-----
    +2
    Bears-------
    +4

    and...

    Rams -3

Should not have placed the first teaser bet, but we will see...

I do like the other bets though, Bengals -7.5 is iffy.

    Edit:
Just wanted to add this is the first time for me doing a teaser bet.
I agree that they are not smart, but I wanted to give it a shot this week.
I usually only do 1 game bets.
I also try to buy points when I can.

So what do you think of my picks Ned?
If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bs.

though i only play poker with some friends, what chances got the Jets againts the patriots?
I would stay away from that game.
I hear alot of "experts" picking the jets in an upset.
To me this game could go either way.
Week 1 the Pats barely squeked by the Bills.
And the Jets barely beat the Titans.
Now, I think the Bills are a better team than the Titans.
Thats why I like the Pats to win, but covering the spread is a whole nother issue.
Kind of a simpletons approach to picking a game, but that is just what my gut tells me.

Week 1 NFL Power Rankings For Football Betting - 09-14-06

September 14 - The NFL handicapping experts at Mycapper.com have released their NFL Power Rankings for how teams performed against the spread in their Week 1 games. They also have a free NFL pick for this coming Sunday that you can access right now. Simply sign up at no charge with Mycapper.com, and read all their free sports picks, including one for the Week 2 clash between the Seahawks and Cardinals.

Top 5 NFL Power Rankings Against The Spread - Week 1

    1. Steelers: Made a mockery of the spread on Thursday, winning handily at home. Batch at QB made them the value play of the week as the points spread dropped dramatically - no one told the Steelers it was a pick'em game.

    2. Ravens: Looked great in a tough game on the road, and destroyed the line on that game. They could be excellent betting value, and NFL oddsmakers and handicappers are taking note.

    3. Bears: They will be very tough to beat this season with the best defense in the league, and ATS they offer good value because when they do lose as dogs it will be close.

    4. Jaguars: Talented and very underrated equals good betting value. It showed in Week 1 and the lack of respect they get from the media should ensure it continues.

    5. Colts: That was a solid start to the season but we would still be cautious of laying big points spreads with this team. Week 2 will give us a better idea of their ability to put up huge numbers.

Bottom 5 NFL Power Rankings Against The Spread - Week 1

Teams that are very weak offer as much, if not more, betting value to the good NFL handicapper, because we can simply bet their opponents to cover against them. Here are the 5 worst ATS teams from Week 1...

    1. Packers: No team looked worse, and with Favre leading the way the lines will still be incredibly overvalued on this team - case in point was in Week 1 where the Bears were only favored by 3 points against this collection of clowns!

    2. Raiders: The team is already showing signs of falling apart and it's only the end of Week 1! Poor coaches and a lack of harmony will ensure that this team offers good value if you're betting against them. They were horrible on Monday Night.

    3. Patriots: Remember this is an ATS Power Rankings Poll. The Pats were poor at home against a bad Bills team. They will fail to cover a lot of games if they play at this level in coming weeks. Let's see how they fare against another mediocre team in the Jets.

    4. Titans: It's going to be a long season for their fans, but we could make a lot of money going against them if they continue to play to this standard.

    5. Redskins: They've been overrated since Gibbs came back and they will suffer this season as the weakest team in a loaded NFC East. Look for very few covers from this team.

Re: Ned's weekly pic tips and stats, when it comes to Spreads and O/U's....

I agree with most of that except the Redskins.
I may end up looking like a fool, but I think the Redskins cover and possibly win on Sunday night.
They played good in week 1, but not great.
They left a ton of points off the board by not scoring in the redzone.
I think they rebound against Dallas and win this game.
I'm looking for Chris Cooley to get more involved in the redzone, and better tackling on Defense.

Yes Dallas Wr's will be a problem, but not if Bledsoe is getting pressure.
Redskins had thier number last year, and I think this trend will continue.
If anyone is overated I think it's Dallas.
Again, I could be wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time, sure as heck won't be the last.
If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bs.

So what do you think of my picks Ned?

In your first 4 teamer, the only pick I really don't like is the Fins VS Bills
OVER Pick... In their last 7 meetings the Under has come in 5 out of 7 times.....

Both teams are more defensive orriented if you ask me and PeP will surely turn the ball over a couple of times in this game.

As for your Sweatheart Teaser, there sweat allright, till the break your heart.. ;D

Two games that stand out to me are, the Niners are 12-6 and 2 in the last 20 meetings against the Rams. Thats over 50% of the time they cover the spread, and they did put up some points last week.....

Your pick of the Bears is another one that could bite you when you least expect it..

The Lions looked tough last week and the Bears, well they had an easy one with the Pack, but most teams will that face them this year..

I just have a feeling, the Bears may take the Lions a little bit less seriously than they should this week and the Bears may be looking ahead just a little at next weeks match-up with the Vikings......I wouldn't be suprised at all if the Lions pounced on the Bears in this one...

But anyways, I wish you best of luck with all your bets.......

I love to gamble, but I am a pansy and usually don't go very high.
I just like that feeling I get knowing I picked the right team(s).
I Love Kerry Collins (and John Rocker).
