Moves that could further screw up our chances of getting Calvin Johnson
The Broncos would definitely take him at #6 if he was still there:
Broncos | Team still working on deal with Washington
Wed, 7 Mar 2007 12:41:49 -0800
Jason La Canfora, of the Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos are actively trying to work out a deal, with the Broncos seeking the No. 6 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and the Redskins looking to acquire CB Dre' Bly. The Broncos tried to offer LB Al Wilson and a package of draft picks for the Redskins' high draft pick, but the deal fell through when the Redskins opted to sign LB London Fletcher-Baker instead of trading for Wilson. Also, the Redskins have offered CB Shawn Springs in a deal for Bly, but the Broncos are not willing to give the Redskins cap relief for the $7.5 million charge they would receive by trading Springs. With both teams still coveting their targets, and with Bly still reportedly looking to play in Washington, it is still possible for some kind of swap involving Bly and the Redskins' first-round pick to happen before the draft.
The Browns could pass on Adrian Peterson also if they did this:
Browns | J. Lewis to visit team

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Cleveland Browns will meet with free agent RB Jamal Lewis (Ravens), according to the Baltimore Sun.

yayyyyy......we better get a #2 or 3 pick if we want CJ. Also, knowing how Al Davis loves good WR's, it would not surprise me if he took CJ over Russell or Quinn. That would throw the whole 1st round out of whack

This is hardly news.
It is pretty much accepted that if CJ drops to #6, washington will trade with someone who wants him.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

When did we ever have a chance at getting CJ?

Re: Moves that could further screw up our chances of getting Calvin Johnson
We've always had the option of trading up for him.
The question has never been "could..."
It is a matter of BC taking the steps needed to make it happen. This is a question of action.
No way in heckola. Chilli is more likely to shave his moustache and grow dreadlocks.
I see him trading down to get multiple first-day picks, and with what will probably be available at number 7...? Not the worst of ideas, IMO.-Sno

We trade our #7 to the Raiders for their #2 and/or their #3 AND RM!!!
That way, we get our #1 WR, who can retire as a Viking, and Grandpa Al gets CJ with the first pick and whichever QB drops to #7 (probably Quinn, since the Browns would take Russell since he and Phil Savage are "buddies").BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

We could always trade half our defense and the draft picke for a few years to Oakland for the number one pick. not like we haven't tried something like that before lol.
There will be a solid player available at number 7 no matter who goes ahead of us.

Actually it's a question of whether it's good for the Vikings or not. BC doesn't make that decision, Speilman, Wilf and BC make that decision and if they decide it's good for the Vikes I think they will make it happen. Personally, I don't think they will decide it's a good idea and will probably do as you said and trade down for more picks. We've always had the option of trading up for him.

But we STILL have to find a trade partner for it to work...sometimes it is just as hard to find someone to trade up with you."SnoBumMN" wrote:
