More games for the UK?

More games for the UK?

Fans in the UK could be able to enjoy up to four games per season on home soil in the future, according to NFL Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and International Mark Waller in an interview with Reuters.

That is contingent on expanding the NFL season to 17 games though, so that teams won't lose a home game.
I would be just fine with that.

I just don't find the need for this stuff.
Just like baseball having it's opening day in Japan....I mean WTF???
What happened to Americans Past time etc, etc???
I get the basic concept of what they are doing but keep the games on American soil, please and thanks!

The reason they did it was PR, the U.S. really wants players from Japan, and I actually think we'll see the day in the next couple decades that a MLB club opens in Japan.
Throw that on top of the fact that you can make so much money of of Dice-k and Boston in Japan.
I could see the argument for not being opening day, but it was really only an unoffical opener but the "real" opening day is still coming, but either way this was GREAT PR for the MLB for attracting players and playing the game of baseball in one of the world's other great baseball countries.

People get all hung up about little things like where the game takes place.
It was still two American teams playing each other for the American League while being great ambassadors for the game.

But if people want to complain about it taking place in Japan, whatever.

if they added a week, it'd probably be fine.. otherwise screw that, its the NATIONAL Football League, i get that you're trying to get a broader fan base and add interest in the sport world wide.. but yea..

Re: More games for the UK?

At the moment it's a pure money issue and nothing else. The game last year was over subscribed by about 4 or 5 times the tickets available and, I believe, the amount of people registering interest for this year is way over again.

I don't think there's any fear of a franchise being established this side of the pond, despite the good numbers so far there is not enough support to make a franchise viable. We've seen with the Monarchs and other NFLE teams that have fallen as soon as results dip and the crowds drop. Add to that the number of US cities looking for a franchise then it won't happen.
