He should go back and save his ailing alma mater, Northern Michigan. That is a bummer really. He is from Iron Mountain where I am from, and he is really a great guy that gives a lot to the community, so it's a shame to see that he will now be out of work. I'm sure he will find another job soon, but whether or not it is at head coach I'm not too sure of.

Re: Mooch is fired
I would take him as a Vikings Offensive Co-Ordinator.

Re: Mooch is fired
I am surprised that Mooch was run out like this, especially after all the work Millen did to get "his man" and now just two and a half years later he is run out of town ...

Re: Mooch is fired
Ya alot of us are on the same page on the fact that teams tend to ralley around each other after big changes in the organization (firing coach, loosing key players). BUT loosing mooch dosnt change that this team is not that good. The vikings need to keep that underdawg mentality and go out there and take care of the kitties. You guys remeber one of the magazines in the offseason saying...LIONS WILL WIN THE NORTH!! well looks like thier prediction isnt gonna happen.

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

Not yet, the players will have to go out and earn this one. You can guarantee that the Lions are not going to roll over for this one and would love to mess up our current streak. The TE's and "O" line coach are gone also ... Ditka was getting hot on ESPN saying how crappy of an organization is this when the TE Pollard is your top receiver and you fire his position coach ....
Smell a victory on Sunday anyone ????
I want us to continue with the current attitude and plan and work a game plan to take them down ourselves - not rely on them handing us the game.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

Dre Bly says Harrington is the problem, not mooch.
On NFL Total Access this afternoon, Bly stated that he felt that it was unfair that Mooch got fired. He (Bly) felt that some players should have been fired before Mariucci, with one player being the key reason the Lions have struggled to win. After some probing by Rich Eisen, Dre said that Harrington hasn't performed as he should and hasn't really commited himself to the team.
Personally I would tend to agree however, I'm not a member of the team and will not suffer the repercussions of the next day's locker room meeting as Dre Bly will.
It would seem that the Lions problems stretch from the owner down to the pratice squad and the firing of Mariucci will only serve to split the team even further.
Good luck Mooch, wherever you go...Minnesota maybe?

Re: Mooch is fired
Absolutely Millen is the problem and not Mariucci. Anybody remember Marty Morningwheg?(spelling?) That alone shows that Matt Millen hasn't a single functioning brain cell inside that huge melon of his.
If I was a Lions fan I'd be screaming FIRE MILLEN!!!

Re: Mooch is fired
Normally I would be afraid of the "wounded animal" approach facing the De-Toilet Thunder Kitties but not this time. They just dont have an offensive line that can do anything against our "D". As stated earlier, the only thing preventing us from a victory this weekend is ourselves, period.
Also, this team quit 2 weeks ago and as stated on ESPN earlier today, 4 players "not to be mentioned" stated after the Thanksgiving loss, the only thing left to play for is individual accomplishments the rest of the way this year.
To me and everyone else, that means the "I" has been placed in "TEAM" and also the fork has been stuck in this team ... they are done.
