Raiders | McCown will start Week 1
    Wed, 5 Sep 2007 14:55:07 -0700

Updating previous reports, Michael Smith, of ESPN, reports Oakland Raiders QB Josh McCown will start Week 1.
    Outstanding.
After McCown fails, that makes it more likely that Daunte will be the starter when the Raiders come to town in November!

    =Z=
If the Raiders are out of contention, wouldn't you think that Russell will be playing in Nov and Dec.

Week 11, which means the 10th game for both teams.

It would be nice to see Pep play against us.

You are evening assuming he will sign this year.
What happens if he doesn't sign?
Does he become a FA next year?

I posted earlier that I read yesterday that they were closer to a deal.

Still may or may not get done!

But I am assuming that it will get done and he will be in a uniform in the next few weeks.
The way I see it, is if McC or DC do well, then the Raiders get the upper hand on the negotiations.
IMHO it is in Russell's best interest to sign before DC starts playing.
Whether the Raider really want DC to be in Raiderville or not, they can use that as leverage against him.
I think that McC is leverage for Russell.
    LOL!

Russell has had the playbook since draft day (I hope).
He just doesn't have timing with his WRs and the live game experience from preseason.

I have a feeling that Pep may rejuvenate his career if he plays against us.
He is going to come in pumped full of adrenaline and VERY hungry for a win.

Stats are similiar for the preseason. I guess I would start McCown too.

Does that mean he'll only throw 3 picks as opposed to 6?

    Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Similar except for arguably the most important category!

I am not a Culpepper fan and could care less if he won the starting spot, but I wonder, based of those stats, why McCown is starting.
Was Daunte's TDs against 2nd and 3rd string defenses?

If that happened, I'd almost be willing to call our season a sucess no matter what our record was at the end of it.

You forgot about the small hand fumblitis.
He'll have a few of those too.
I hope he starts against the Vikings and his fragile ego is beaten into an unrepairable mess.
He'll have to go to counseling just to have enough confidence to have a paper route.
