    McCown gets nod over Culpepper

Daunte's blues, he's such a hero that McCown grabbed the start over him.

I thought surely #11 would beat out McCown.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.........

Maybe if he would have been with the organization longer he might have done it.

One quick point on this - Kiffin has not announced who the starting QB would be yet.
Adam Schefter has predicted that McCown will get the start, and I believe he will as well.
But it is not official yet.

BTW, how long can Kiffin go without announcing the starting lineup?
I assume that there is some time line that he must follow...

The only reason McClown gets the nod over Pep right now is he's been there longer and has a better grasp of the offense, including the 2-minute offense. Pep will be the starter sooner rather than later when he gets somemore time in the play book.

    Does he have to?

I know that they have to put in an injury report by a certain day but I am not sure about starters.

I saw the interview with the coach and he said the players know who is starting.
He is just keeping a competitive advantage.

The other note I saw yesterday was that the Raiders are closer to signing Russell than they have been at any point.
Basically talks resumed and the parties are starting to warm up on the numbers $$.

Don't think he will be starting anytime soon if he does come back.

The sad thing is that DC will probably be a glorified back up QB moving around the league from team to team.

    Outstanding.
After McCown fails, that makes it more likely that Daunte will be the starter when the Raiders come to town in November!

I don't believe coaches ever have to announce who will or will not be playing, certainly not on merit.
They have to be "open" about injuries, but I don't believe there's any rule saying that you have to tell the other team who is going to start.
