The Bears made it to the Super Bowl, the Vikings have optimism, even the Packers improved, but the Lions have Matt Millen making decisons.

The Lions are one bad football team.

I think the Lions offense has the potential to be scary-good this year.
Kitna has had a year to digest Martz's offense and they could potentially line-up 3-wide with Roy Williams, Mike Furrey (don't forget who led the NFC in receptions last year) and Calvin Johnson.

That's not a fun thought for defensive coordinators, let me assure you.

A month earlier Denver had offered two first-round picks, a second-rounder and two third-rounders, plus veteran linebacker Al Wilson, but when the Broncos wouldn't substitute another second-round pick for the injured Wilson, Millen turned them down. With that, the bar was set high.

Holy crap.

I would have take five first day picks over CJ any day.
As good as CJ is, he isn't going to get them out of the cellar by himself.

I do agree with you Zeus - Detroit has the potential to have an incredible offense.
But somehow they always manage to piss it away...

One of those would have had to have been Denver's 1st-round pick in 2008.
Is that pick more likely to be in the top-10 or bottom-10?

It's not that attractive a deal, IMHO, when you consider where Denver's picks slotted in 2007 and will likely slot (especially with Calvin Johnson catching Jay Cutler's lasers!) in 2008.

that is a lot to give up for the right to take CJ..

i think the kittens shoulda taken the deal.. CJ will bring in the crowd.. but 5 first day picks woulda made them a better club.

Gonna have to agree with Zeus, I highly doubt the Broncos would have to give up a first round pick higher than 20. It could have helped the Lions in a variety of areas, but CJ is special another one like him might not come around for awhile.

I would've jumped on it.

I know CJ is supposed to be awesome.
But, he could be a bust.
At least Millen would have a better shot at getting some good players.

CJ was his ONE chance to insure that he made the RIGHT pick...even HE wasn't that stupid to pass it up!
