    Re: Matt Jones at #18?

he reminds me of kordel stewart... there has been some wr's and rb's that were QB's like our very own Melwade Moore, but Jones is not worth the 18th pick. i really don't have the best feeling about the guy. and he is a gimmick player--catching one play, running the next, and then throwing after that. he is the 2005 version of kordel stewart--who took 4 years to even figure out what position he would be good at--which we all later found out, he sucked at.

not good enough for the Temple Owls football--haha.

Stewart sucked his whole career, but everyone kept saying the first 4 years "he is going to change how the QB plays football" hahahahahahaha... sounds like what they say about Vick...

Jones at 18 is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. I would rather take nugent at 18, at least he has played the position before.
 He's played football before??? I thought he was a rock star and hunter!!!!

he could be the next antonio gates from SD, but kordel stewart more likely. the brown's will take him the second round. let a sucky team take a chance on him.

You guys that are talking about Jones being a bust can look no further than Hines Ward. He was a QB in college and didn't know the Wr position. He is one of the best WR in the game. Now look at the physical attributes of both of these men and I would say Jones is a physical specimen and head and shoulders above Ward in phsyical talent. The only risk here is his work ethic and intelligence. Will he work as hard as Ward did to become a complete WR? Does he have the intelligence to learn a new position? I think he does and I think he has the heart and will to be a great WR. Now taking him with the 18th pick, Yes we COULD take him with the 18th pick and I will tell you why. We have the 7th pick in the draft. Most teams only have one pick in the first round. So really you have nothing to lose by reaching a little on a great athlete. I know some people will say you have to replace Moss but that is not accurate. You have to field the best team possible. If this kid has great character and is a hadd worker he will make the Viking fans very happy, probably not this year but by next year. He is without a doubt the BEST ATHLETE in the draft. He has speed, size, and leaping ability that is matched by no one. And again we have the 7th pick so we could reach if we wanted to on the 18th. I am not saying I would use the 18th pick to draft him but I wouldn't be mad either.

There s only two things stopping you - fear and common sense!! The Truth you CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!

Cmon man, I am not hugely against him, but he has NEVER played receiver. Comparing him to Ward is a joke. Ward played receiver/RB for at least two years at Georgia, he was only a QB one or two years because they had little choice.
When you have a team with talent that has a chance of making noise, risking a first rounder on someone who is being excessively hyped makes little sense.
