Schefter: Marinelli out in Detroit after 0-16 season
NFL.com Wire Reports
Rod Marinelli is out as head coach of the winless Detroit Lions, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter
Re: Marinelli Done in Detroit
Marinelli is a much better coach than the record indicates.
Put into a horrid situation, I would be surprised if he disappears from the coaching realms.
Re: Marinelli Done in Detroit
Wow, just wow.
I never saw that one coming.

I hope he lands a good job somewhere.I cant help but respect the guy.
Re: Marinelli Done in Detroit
Although I believe the coaching staff should bare some blame, this is a prime example of how a FO can screw up a team if they don't get the right guys/players to fit the system.
New GM, New Coaching staff, some decent pieces in place, ..........
Could they be the new Falcons, Ravens next year?

With 0 wins they can never improve again, ever.
The can't double, triple, quadruple, quintuple...cannot improve.
Anything times 0 is 0.
They are destined to suck for an eternity.
The only respect they deserve is in regards to the surviving fan base.
It is now officially impossible to be a fair weather fan of the Lions unless you are circling the drain.

I would, and at the same time, wouldn't be.
He was a decent coach and got the short end of the stick thanks in large part to Millen.
However, a lot of teams are going with young new hot coaches, rather than going with people that have been around the block a few times

Funny that was brought up. They were discussing that this morning on the tube and it was brought up that Marinelli was involved in bringing in much of the talent that the Lions got since he was hired compared to previous coaches under Millen. So if the players were not fitting the scheme then much of the blame does fall on his shoulders.

I think it will be more of the same. When one of the things you have going for you, is getting a severely less mobile then in his prime and has a bad shoulder daunte culpepper back, you've got big big issues.
Re: Marinelli Done in Detroit
