    Manning may shop around

Panthers | Manning could look around
    Sun, 12 Feb 2006 08:03:42 -0800

Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports Carolina Panthers CB Ricky Manning Jr. accepted his role as the team's No. 3 cornerback in 2005, but it does not mean he will permanently accept the role. "I feel comfortable saying he's not comfortable with that role forever," Manning's agent James Ivler said. "He feels like he can be a starter in the league for the long-term. Last year, the moves they made deepened the team, and he was fine with it -- he was a good soldier." Manning is scheduled to become a restricted free agent in March. The Panthers could keep him another year by placing the first-round tender on him (expected to be around $1.5 million), which would require any team signing him to provide a first-rounder as compensation and no team would pay that price. If they put the low tender on him (expected to be around $700,000), it's feasible that someone would surrender a third-round pick for Manning.

do we need him? we might if bwill doesnt get signed and if we boot smoot out. for under a million and a 3rd rounder, that seems like a pretty good deal.
    We're bringing purple back.

    We don't need him...

Smoot will be fine next year...
The best part of my day is when I get down on my knees, with my head in my hands, and thank GOD for everything he has given me.

I don't think it would be a bad move. If Williams is going to cost a lot then we need another corner. Most people think we're going to draft a corner in the middle rounds anyways, Ricky Manning is a lot better than a third round corner we're going to get.

We really don't need another CB. SMOOT and TWON are the best CB duo in the league. Also i like our young guys, and think that they will step up if Williams does leave. Another thing is that if manning wasn't happy being a #3 with the panthers then who says that he would want to come to be a #3 with the Vikes? he's ready to be an every down CB & not a nickle guy.

We dont need another cornerback at all. Even if we lose Brian williams we have smoot and winfield and Dovonte Edwards, I am willing to bet edwards will be fighting hard for the starting role along side winfield. So we will prolly see the best out of smoot this year because he wont want to give up his starting job to a second year guy.

I like the way Edwards came in and stepped up for us, and he was a late round draft pick rookie. Impressive.

I dont think we need another corner

Even if we dont sign B-Will again I think we will be fine

I think Dustin Fox could play corner too.

and Davonte was a undrafted free agent packsux!

Thank you Josdin for the sig
