Re: Lions off to fast start
there's a difference between not being surprised and "seeing it coming" I would not be shocked if they did either. I don't expect it, but it could very well happen.

Can I just call you a donut? Nobody has ever asked me to do that before and the thought of doing so is somewhat intriguing.

I'm under the impression that a donut would float.

Re: Lions off to fast start
I knew the Lions dominating tine worst team in the NFL in a PRESEASON game was going to get some people going nuts on here.
The Lions simply do not have the depth to be a "dominant" team. They have some solid skill players, but their offensive line is dreadful. Their linebackers are average at best. Their secondary is dreadful. Their running backs are average at best. And their quarterback, who the entire season rests on, is injury prone.
I like the movement this team is making upwards, but they are not ready to go from winning 8 games in the last three years to winning 10+ this year.
I would not be shocked to see them sneak in the playoffs (though very surprised). But to be dominant? With that roster? That would be quite shocking.

Agreed, Stafford is a very good player and would love to see him have a full season as i think the kid can really play.. but he needs to prove he can stay injury free before anyone should take the Lions too seriously.

Maybe not dominant but to say they have no chance at winning the division is pretty pessimistic. Just like every year it is going to come down to what team stays healthy and what team can get productivity out of the players who need to fill in due to injury.

I am certainly not chalking them up for a SB trophy or anything but they are as legitimate as they have been in decades and they will certainly make the division more interesting this year.

Re: Lions off to fast start
They were 1-1 against both us and Green Bay last year. Yep......the very same team that went on to win the SB, they beat 7-3. And what about the SB hangover? Do you know how many teams have actually won the SB back to back? Wonder why that is? Lets ask the Saints, or the Colts, or the Giants.......maybe the Buccaneers know, ....

Re: Lions off to fast start
I really like what the Lions are doing, however, they still have issues and that doesn't start with their injury prone QB.
Their answer to the running game is out for the year. Not sure if they've fixed their protection issues (see injury prone QB) and they just don't have the depth on defense to rotate/keep pressure on a team that will show later on in the season when legs start to get weary.
On a side note, I love how Suh brings the Nasty. Such a shame that guys like him can't play like that without getting "Flagged" anymore.
Kindof reminds me of watching some of the clips with Wildman during the HOF inductions. He was amazed at what some of the "Old School" players could do back in the day. :whistle:Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Lions off to fast start
I'm certain from your description that we are not watching the same Lions team. :cheer:

The thing I see with the Lions is that they have been quietly building a quality team over the past few years while everyone was focused elsewhere in the league. Last year I thought they looked on the verge of a breakout and my feeling was that they needed to be watched closely. I also think that they could do alot worse in their depth at QB. Most of last year was played with the backup under center.
They won their last four games last year and are looking good going into preseason this year. If the team gets on the same page at the same time..........
My feeling is that they are going to be serious contenders in our division, very soon, if not sooner.
