Lions name Stafford starter
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting on his Twitter page that the Lions have announced that rookie Matthew Stafford will be their starting quarterback this season. Stafford beat out veteran Daunte Culpepper for the job.

Re: Lions name Stafford starter
I think this is a dumb move personally
I would let him sit one year

I think that with Ryan's success last year (Flacco's too to a lesser extent) that both the Jets and Lions were under a lot of pressure to bring their guys in and start them right away.
I personally thought they should start Culpepper to start the season, but I am not surprised by this at all.

It's going to take some years, but down the road, the Lions are going to be pretty good, IMO.
Stafford, Kevin Smith, CJ, they're getting some good players to build this team around.

They are working on that defense too
Julian peterson and Ernie Sims are pretty solid
Added some decent corners
In 2-3 years i could see them contending again

I know Harrington was, too, but you're clearly making that assumption purely based on the fact that he's a Lion...
I think Stafford is going to be very good in the future.

Interesting decision, I really thought Daunte was going to win this job being the veteran in Linehan's Offense.

Thats fine...Jared always is looking to go hunting for fresh meat.
