Lions fire G after 5 weeks
Offensive line could see some drastic changes
Posted by Tom Kowalski
The release of Zach Piller is a surprise on one level because they just signed him as a free agent five weeks ago. Then again, it's not that shocking because the Lions suddenly have a logjam on the offensive line. When it all shakes out, it's possible that the two guys who were slated to start on the right side last year -- guard Damien Woody and tackle Rex Tucker -- might not be on the team.

Re: Lions fire G after 5 weeks
I can't believe they haven't made the move to sign him yet.
Re: Lions fire G after 5 weeks
The Lions don't need to fire a G, they need to fire a GM.

Great idea PPE.
I almost got the org in trouble.
We wouldn't want to get someone with a bad Madden rating.

Re: Lions fire G after 5 weeks
He could be good backup.
Not saying as a starter, but to give us some depth.
Zach Piller 6' 5"
315lbs
8 year vet was a 3rd round pick in 1999.
report from when he was released from Titans earlier this year.
Titans release injured Zach Piller
NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Tennessee Titans released eight-year veteran left guard Zach Piller yesterday following his season-ending ankle injury in September.
Piller was placed on injured reserve in October for the second time in three seasons after hurting his ankle. He tore his left biceps in the 2004 season opener.
A third-round draft pick out of Florida in 1999, he played in 87 games with 58 starts. Jacob Bell moved over from right tackle to replace Piller.
