    Re: Lions' Death Camp

I have no problem with players playing full contact in training camp, but it isn't necessarily a wise move. They have complicated playbooks to master and need to make sure they know all their assignments on any given play. Smashing each others skulls in doesn't necessarily translate into learning the plays. Multi-millionare players getting hurt in camp does nobody any good.

It's something that every NFL team should have learned a lesson from. Take it easy on the hot days and make sure the players aren't getting overly fatigued. Of course its not cool! Thats my whole point. I think this article should raise some eyebrows.

Oh man come on ...its the Lions...thier babies in baby blue. You could make them jog in a patatoo sack with 3 cobras in it as a warm up and they still would be below .500

Lions | Millen hoping players complain
    Thu, 27 Jul 2006 05:22:32 -0700

Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions team president Matt Millen said he hopes the team's players do a lot of complaining about new head coach Rod Marinelli's hard-hitting training camp. "Honestly, I would hope I hear a lot of bitching and complaining," Millen said. "If you're not complaining, you ain't practicing."

    Korey Stringer

Anyway, 95% of these players are in amazing shape anyway, those that aren't are either players with a bad attitude (Mike Williams) or are going to get cut.

If a coach want's to run his players, then fine. There are pros and cons to running hard and easy practices, having done both, I am inclined to believe that hard practices (at least early in the season) are more benificial the younger your team is.

I don't see how I was being disrespectful to Korey, but OK. If anything I was being disrespectful to the Vikings organization. And for that I am not sorry for.
