    Re: Learn From The Saints

This just goes to show that when you have a QB that supposedly has arm issues, a rookie HC (who by the way was coach of the year) and a few rookie players on your team, that it doesn't mean you are in a rebuilding stage..

Drew Brees has been the biggest reason why the Saints are where they are right now.. Sean Payton obviously is one hell of a football coach.. He got that team from a 3-13 season to the NFC championship game in a matter of 1 year.. With the players we got in FA last season, there is no reason why Brad Childress couldn't have made a stronger push for the playoffs this year.. So Childress being a rookie HC is no excuse for the season the Vikings had..

Maybe our division is too tough for BC to make the push.
    LOL!

Yep, the Saint blew just about every excuse for not doing good out of the water.

I think Payton's offense works out well for them and the fact that he is a good coach.

yeah you know having Drew Brees, Deuce Mcalister,Reggie Bush,Joe Horn,Marques Colston. a pretty good offensive line. the bevy of talent to either stretch the field or dink and dunk screws with a defense they dont know where to attack. well New Orleans just has better players
    & bettter coaching
so thats what I Learned from the Saints.Plus having your city destroyed
by a natural disaster means they give yoru city a championship.hummm makes me think maybe minnesota gets a god awful flood maybe they give the Vikes a Super Bowl.
    just a afterthought

"The team took chances in free agency and the draft and overhauled their offense in a matter of months -- something the Vikings might want to consider."

"Teams like the Vikings could learn from the success of the Saints this season. They got rid of players they felt were disruptive like Donte Stallworth and had young, unproven players like Marques Colston step up and become playmakers. They drafted an impact rookie running back (like the Vikings could do with Adrian Peterson) and the incumbent didn’t see a drastic drop in carries. They tabbed a veteran quarterback to help them through the short-term and got much better than anticipated results. With the money the Vikings have to spend and the premiere draft slot they’re sitting in, they could make a similar change of fortune if they wish to and execute wisely. The future for the Vikings and other top 10 teams on draft day doesn’t have to be delayed."

    ************************************************** ********************

IF Peterson is still there, we have to take him...I think that he is a CAN'T MISS pro...screw the WR need.
Also, Garcia would be a great stopgap QB for us...still mobile and can make all the throws...he was a three-time Pro Bowler who showed this season that he still has something left in the tank...TJack would probably benefit from some good competition in training camp and might show that he needs another year before he is truly ready.
Also, we need to take a chance on someone like Donnie Edwards, Joe Horn, Drew Bennett and maybe even Simeon Rice...gamble that they will have a few good years left in them...these players would definitely upgrade both our pass defense and passing offense.
Draft a good OT prospect with our second pick and fill in with good special teamers the rest of the way down.

Colston has been the man all season, this kid really stepped up and got the job done.

"The difference between a bad team, good team, and potentially great team isn't that much."

There was a thread called ' Making The Case For Childress '.

The above statement makes the case for Childress with me!
I don't think we are that far off.We need a little help but we had a lot of close losses this season. But for pre-snap penalties in the red zone and a few dropped passes and this season could have looked a lot better.
We need some key personel changes and some inspired coaching to be a great team. But when you can run the ball and stop the run,you have a good foundation to build on.

If next year is just more of the same then Childress can pack his bags!
I would be surprised if that happens.
What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

I agree... If we go 5-11 next year there are no excuses.

I don't want to hear strength of schedule, We should of one this game, or the refs messed us.
