Lastest News on Fassel in Baltimore.

    ProFootballTalk
    by ProFootballTalk editor Mike Florio

FASSEL HAS NO SHOT AT ANOTHER TOP JOB

In response to ongoing reports that former Giants coach Jim Fassel is angling for a return to the ranks of NFL head coaches, a league source with thorough knowledge of Fassel's credentials and history believes that there's no chance of Fassel ever getting another head coaching job.

Per the source, any team that performs its due diligence on Fassel ultimately will conclude that Fassel should not be hired.

We've heard most recently that Fassel is hoping to succeed Brian Billick in Baltimore. And perhaps Fassel thinks that the Ravens would engage in a less thorough examination of Fassel since he's already in the building as the team's offensive coordinator.

Fassel has been linked to the likely vacancy in Minnesota, since new owner Zygi Wilf is a lifelong Giants fan. As we've previously noted, however, Fassel's last season in New York was a disaster -- and Wilf undoubtedly was paying close enough attention to the Giants' fortunes that year to notice.

What's all this coaching vacancy talk? We have Tice and frankly it would be foolish to ever get rid of him. He is an offensive mastermind not to mention a creative genius, just look at how well the offense has responded after losing the greatest offensive weapon in the league. I hope he gets a contract extention.

Somebody tell me please. Other than his Superbowl year, how good of a coah was Fassell. He's the O coordinator at Baltimore, and they have one of the best RB's in the league, yet they are pathetic.

One good year, and average at best the rest of the time.

    Hmmmm???
