L.A. Backers?
Glad that fell through, that name makes you think of another team that sounds quite the same. Right now, I think they'll probably move someone out there instead of having a fresh new team. The National Football League says it has reached a preliminary agreement with city officials to bring a team back to Los Angeles, California.
The Los Angeles area is the second-largest television market in the United States. But it has been without an NFL team since the Raiders moved from the Los Angeles Coliseum back to Oakland, and the Rams moved from Anaheim to St. Louis before the 1995 season.
NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue did not say when Los Angeles would have a team. After announcing plans in the spring of 1999 to put an expansion team in the Coliseum, the NFL was unable to reach an agreement with the Los Angeles backers. The 32nd franchise was instead awarded to Houston that October.

I hope that was sarcasm, but it didn't sound like it. So, at great personal risk of looking like the fool here (okay, that happens enough I should be used to it), I'll just mention that "backers" wasn't going to be the team name. The article was talking about the investors that were backing the proposal to bring the expansion team to L.A. Since the NFL couldn't reach an agreement with the financial backers, they gave the team to Houston instead.Glad that fell through, that name makes you think of another team that sounds quite the same. Right now, I think they'll probably move someone out there instead of having a fresh new team.

Re: L.A. Backers?
No, but since it sounded like 'Packers' I thought I'd give it a twist.
If that were for real.. what kind of logo could you have for the backers..?
on second thought never mind, that would be similar to what GB likes to do.

It is real, but Los Angeles backers isn't the team name, they were saying people who support the Los Angeles franchise are "backers" becuse they back the franchise being in LA. Hence, they're LA backers, not LA Backers. Bad wording by whoever wrote the article. You got me man.. That looked real! I was questioning it though
