Brien questionable for Sunday's game; tryouts held for 5

The Bears downgraded kicker Doug Brien from probable to questionable on Friday's injury report.
Time will tell if the same happens with Brien's Bears future.
After signing Tyler Jones to the practice squad Tuesday, the Bears brought in five additional kickers for tryouts Friday, further evidence Brien's inaccurate leg is as big a concern as his ailing back.
The Bears looked at veterans Steve Christie and Martin Gramatica and undrafted free agents Robby Gould, Tim Seder and Carter Warley.
Brien has missed three straight practices, equaling his field-goal misses in four attempts. If the Bears go another direction, a kicker would have to be signed to the 53-man active roster by 3 p.m. Saturday.
Brien, who entered the season as the 12th most accurate kicker in league history, might be waived then. Other options would be to place someone on injured reserve or waive a different player and hope to re-sign him Monday.

I'd bet they're kicking themselves that they kept Brien over Edinger!
Brien is only 1-4! He wasn't good when we had him either. He also cost us the Bills game by missing PAT's.

While Edinger didn't have the best season last year, I don't know why the Bears brought in Doug Brien as his replacement. The guy stinks. All one has to do is look at his track record over the last few seasons to see the guy is mediocre at best.
Even babies know the difference.

Re: Kicking crisis boots Bears
hope that the Bears will miss all kinds of points in the kicking game. then they'll be upset that gave up on Edinger after one slightly below average year

Re: Kicking crisis boots Bears
doesn't look like the bears are hurt too bad by the injury of Brien. their kicker, Grouh or something like that just kicked a 44 yarder right down the middle.

Thanks Josdin
