I remember back to the day (6th grade) I wished could play football in High School.
Guess what, made team as a 9th grader but not because I was good but because the coach was desparate for players.... ;D
Still, all in all I wished that I could make it to the next level even though I knew I sucked...... ;D
Anyway, after reading an article like that, I sit back and try to imagine what these cats are feeling as they take the next step.
Damn what I wouldn't give if I couldn't strap it on and hit someone, run a few gassers, puke a few times, get into a fight with someone on the other side, ........at least one more time..... :'(Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

That's what I like most about the draft, is seeing the emotion of those youngsters when they get picked, and know their dreams are coming true.

Re: Keep a Dream Alive
on the subject of strapping it on again!!
I played in the UK, both at college and senior (semi/pro) though the standard was nothing like it is in the US.
Each year, the Old Boys go back and play the current team in a pre season 'friendly'. We get to go back and relive old glories, turn back the clock and kick the crap out of the new guys (some of whom have not even worn kit before). Its a lot of fun and after the game we all head to the bar and get riotously drunk.
So far the 'Old Boys' have won all the games but its been close a couple of times. Its a great time, but for days afterward its hard getting out of bed!!

Re: Keep a Dream Alive
This is one reason why I really love UDFA's I always want to rro tfor the underdog. There have been some very solid players, and a couple of all-pro's that have come through the Vikes as UDFA's.
One never knows when the Next John Randle will emerge if they can be given a chance.

punts were fun, it helped that most punters in my league weren't full time punters, and were usually the QB, so they'd boom it 50 yards on a frozen rope, and I'd have miles of space in front of me."i_bleed_purple" wrote:

(either that, or it would go straight up, and with canadian rules, you get a 15 yard radius around you where defenders can't be before the ball is caught)
Still liked kickoffs better.
(actually, field goals were great too, since usually there would be 2 recievers, some TE's a LIne, a QB and a kicker to outrun
