K-Rob seeks pay from Vikings?

Robinson grievance seeks pay from Vikings

This was in another thread, but it was lock when it got vulgar.

Koren Robinson has filed a grievance against the Minnesota Vikings, charging that the club improperly terminated his contract in August when it released him.

The grievance, filed through the NFL Players Association, seeks payment of a substantial portion of the three-year, $12.7 million contract that the wide receiver and kickoff returner received when he re-signed with the Vikings in March as an unrestricted free agent after a 2005 season in which he resurrected his NFL career.

.............Blah blah blah..................

The grievance contends that the Vikings' release of Robinson was a punitive move, precipitated by the Aug. 15 incident, and that the action violates terms of the collective bargaining agreement. According to the CBA, players cannot be released as punishment for off-field actions. Players can be released only for so-called "skill" reasons, meaning diminished production or ability.

In terminating Robinson in late August, the Vikings cited two reasons for his release: unsatisfactory performance compared to other players at the same position and personal conduct that adversely affected the team.................

Looks like the CODE OF CONDUCT may not hold water under the CBA.
Atleast when releasing a player.
Hope the first of the two sentences is enough to satnd on for the Vikes.

I dont get it, we didnt punish him, we released him - because he didnt have a future with the team after with what he did, Childress could have pulled a Eagles/TO.. suspending him and not letting him sign with another team.. we did him a favour in giving him the chance for get his career going again..

K-Rob is a pus.. trying to get 10 million for doing nothing... instead of earning them legit.. he earned the contract last year.. but fucked it up him self.. what an idiot..

The funny thing is, if we only give him one of the sentences, he has nothing to argue about.
Once we said that it was personal conduct, that was an open door to this situation.
Not saying we will lose, but it opened the door for a valid grievance.
Like I said, I hope the league shuts him down for a season.

ROBINSON SUSPENDED FOR A YEAR

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Packers receiver Koren Robinson has been notified of a one-year suspension by the NFL.
The punishment is pending an appeal, but our guess is that Robinson's chances at prevailing are slim.

He served a four-game suspension in 2004, and was still in Stage 3 of the league's substance abuse program.
Although his August 15 arrest for felony fleeing, DUI, and reckless driving was not, standing alone, a violation of the policy, it most likely was a violation of his treatment plan, indirectly triggering a "strike" under the policy -- and the one-year suspension.

The suspension also would give the Minnesota Vikings a strong argument regarding Robinson's grievance for a "significant" amount of the remainder of his three-year, $12.7 million contract.
If Robinson is out for a year, he necessarily could not and would not have earned many of the paychecks that he now wants from the Vikings.

Robinson will be permitted to keep playing while the appeal is processed.

True.
But his disease is no excuse for criminal behavior.
Alcoholic doesn't equal criminal.
alcoholic/horrible human= criminal.
I wish him the worst.

It's no excuse for it, but it's a direct result of it.

Who here hasn't done something stupid or something they regreted as a result of being drunk?

Put alcohol in an alcoholic & there are many insane things he will do, that he wouldn't ever dream of doing if he was sober.

That is good news.
That means at the most, he might be entitled to a sliver of the 3 Mill or so he was looking at stealing from us according to the NFLPA garbage.

For the record, I don't hate the player, the player hates the Vikings, and that is what I dislike.
