The John Madden Stupid Pool
I have decided to start a pool on how long (in years and months) before the Madden cruiser is converted into a short bus. Let the guessing begin!
(I call 5 years, 7 months).

Madden had an outstanding career as head coach of the NFL's Oakland Raiders. He guided the Raiders to an overall record of 103-32-7, leading the team to seven AFC Western Division titles and a victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI. His winning percentage (.750) is the best of any head coach in NFL history.

I'm not a big fan of the guy myself. He was a seriously damn good football coach. I just figured it is worth mentioning at least once on the boards.

That was great when he was calling out Winfield for a cheap shot, that was simply one guy's momentum going into another guys momentum. Then the next play him praising Winfield and talking about how he's a class act a good player, etc.

Re: The John Madden Stupid Pool
I know that Madden was a good coach, Del. That's why he should be better than he is. I remember a time when he was a better commentator who didn't sound like he had been sniffing paint thinner (probably because he had Summerall to cover his fat ass). But those times are passed now, and senility is starting to set in. I think he's got at least 5 years left in him, but it isn't going to be too long before he caves in like a cake in the oven while Pat Williams is running a 40 nearby.

I'm gonna say about 2 more months because that is all the longer he has a contract for on MNF and ABC loses the games. After that he's gone and so is the bus.
