    Re: John Madden Retires

I have loved John Madden's commentary for as long as i've been listening. Before he became old and senile (and in turn much more hilarious) he was very effective in bridging the gap between the experienced and the casual fan. That said, the experienced fan probably found him saying things that were "obvious" in their mind when in actuality he was trying to cater to the casual football fan.

And I was just getting good at impersonating his voice... oh well.

Peekaboo! He busted right up the middle! BOOM!

Now see... what you have here is a post.
It's a short post. Sometimes posts that are short are too the point.
Sometimes short posts are not as long as long posts.
That right there... that's a short post.

Walking home from Brett Favre Brett FavreEve
You can say there's no such thing as Brett Favre

Not suprising since he can't call a Brett Favre game ever again.

A great late birthday present. Thank you thank you thank you. Now he and Favre can retire together and get a nice place out in the country. ;D

Now this would be funny: Matt Millen to Replace Madden?

I've always liked Madden as an analyst (hated him as a coach)...he's a great personality for the game. True, he was better earlier in his analyst career, started to get a little played out in later years.

I just heard that he's already thinking of un-retiring... ;D

Why does everyone on here hate Madden? No doubt Favre was probably his favorite player and he talked about him too much.. Oh well.. Doesn't bother me

I still think he added good insight for the fans who don't know the ins and outs of the game like me and added some humor to his broadcasts.. He was my favorite caller of games for sure

Loved what he brought to the game of football and is a Minnesota legand.. He will be missed in the game of football

Because he babbled endlessly about absolutely nothing. If he had not announced his retirement and was replaced by the sound bites from the Madden video games no one would know the difference.
