Agreed, very odd timing.I'm really surprised by the timing of these firings. It took that long to determine that losing the last 4 games was unacceptable?
I wonder if the Allen group has thir eyes on someone specific.
Someone who can perform both duties.

Can you imagine Chilly and Gruden together on sidelines? There is no way Chilly hires him.Let's get him to be the new OC and shitcan Bevell.
Hell, he figured out how to win a SB with Brad Johnson as
QB and with no great WR group
Hey A guy can dream right? ;D

Re: John Gruden
Chances are that Gruden will get HC position within the week.
If not, I have no objections with him replacing Bevell. However we all know that won't happen because Chilly doesn't have the balls to even replace Ferraro.Halo 4. Start another fight.

Bucks Fire Gruden
Bucs fire coach, general manager
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3839188
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen after the team collapsed following a 9-3 start and failed to make the playoffs.
Super Bowl XXXVII against the Oakland Raiders.
Gruden, who helped lead the Buccaneers to a victory over the Oakland Raiders in the Super Bowl in 2003, was Tampa Bay's coach for seven years before being dismissed Friday. Allen was general manager for the past five seasons.
Hummm, doesn't Tony Dungy live in Tampa now?Kentucky Vikes Fan

When you require nothing, you get nothing; when you expect nothing, you will find nothing; when you embrace nothing, all you will have is nothing.

Completely agree...great face for the franchise, tremendous leader.Rod Woodson just called it the dumbest move ever if they don't have shanny coming in.
Would love to see him on the Vikes' sideline, talk about a guy who would embrace Viking history and tradition...Gruden could make that transition in about 5 minutes.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

Re: John Gruden
please bring this guy in!
he is a great head coach! and has a super bowl ring to his name.
and its not completely his fault his team collapsed if you ask me. their gm made their team like older than rocks.
so combine a 16 game schedule with people over 35... and your bound to not get good results.
