    Jets reportedly cutting Alan Faneca

    http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Jets-reportedly-cutting-Alan-Faneca.html

The New York Jets are poised to cut veteran Pro Bowl offensive guard Alan Faneca, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Per the report, Faneca's release is expected to be officially announced on Monday.

With Faneca being shopped for a trade, the Jets were unable to find a partner willing to assume the 33-year-old's $7.5 million salary, $5.25 million of that 2010 compensaiton is guaranteed.

The Jets drafted University of Massachusetts offensive guard-tackle Vladimir Ducasse in the second round.

Faneca, 33, was reported to be on the trading block for weeks, but the Jets couldnít find any takers. He was scheduled to make $7.5 million this season, of which $5.25 million is guaranteed.

"Alanís on our team, he's done a lot of great things for us," Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said. "All those other questions are hypotheticals. I know thereís a lot of speculation, but thatís typically what happens over a weekend like that."

Faneca officially released...Jets eat $5.2M rather than pay him $7.5M. The Jets have made some bold moves...this and trading Washington. Very risky stuff IMO

Wow, if we walked away from all this with Alan Faneca... it would be huge.

    We should seriously sign him.

I would have to guess we would be seriously interested here. It is clear that the front office is fairly satisfied with our tackle play ... but I can't imagine they are not looking for interior line help for Hutch.
Faneca is not what he once was, but definitely would be someone who should be on our radar.

I hope the Vikes take a look at him and see if they can bring him in.

Maybe Favre will call Chilly and tell him to bring him in since they played together for a year.

I agree that we don't HAVE to have him, but he could be a very solid addition and would make us that much better.

Please please please Spielman, if the coaching staff want thsi guy, work with the ownership group and Bryzcheapski so that they will let you spend the money on this cat............

......Reads a bit more accurate that way.

IMHO, save your money. They released him for a reason and it wasn't only the money.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg
