Re: It's time for a change
The other thing to think about is the Thursday game itself.
Try playing on Sunday, guys get injured and then have to turn around on Monday and try to mentally and physically prepare for that game on Thurs.
It has to be a difficult task.
I think a better team is at an advantage even more so on that short of a week.
Also, the team that is less injured on Sunday will recover faster for Thurs.
On the other hand if you do get that win on Thurs, you have 10 days to recover.
I agree with the post above.
"The Change" has already happened with the NFLN putting on that 3rd game.
Just so long as they don't lock in one team to host that Thursday night game like they did with the Lions and Cowboys for the day games.

An extra night of football is always a good thing. But the short week is really tough on those teams. They cannot do saturdays because of college. Friday is something to consider as well. The other thing to think about is the Thursday game itself.

Re: It's time for a change
Personally I am sick of being held hostage by the Cowboys and Lions every year.
Neither team has really been relevant in the playoff picture (very often) for the last decade plus.
They should be a flex games like they are on Sunday nights at this point in the season.
They could announce the games a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving so teams have enough time to prepare.
Maybe they could compromise and alternate the Cowboys and Lions every season based on record/relevance of game.
IDK, I just want to see good football while I'm in my food coma.
Rock out with your cock out!!!

Re: It's time for a change
Maybe they should just have Lions and Cowboys play each year
And have a good game following

It's that same kind of "screw tradition, we can do better" attitude that has the Vikings playing under an inflatable garbage bag these days....I'm just hoping that one day we'll actually get to watch "top" teams play on Thanksgiving Day.
I'm tired of watching the Cowboys & Lions be the ones to play every year.
It's time for a change.
I say let the Lions and Cowboys host on Thanksgiving Day as long as they want.
Hell, I don't care if half the teams in the NFL decide they want to play on Thanksgiving Day (if you want viewers to have a better choice of games), but leave tradition alone.
It amazes me how many times people look back on the Old Met through nostalgic eyes and forget what a POS it was.
But I agree that Detroit and Dallas should have the Turkey Day games like they always have.
It's NFL tradition.
Although I hate the Cowboys and dislike the Lions, I feel bad for their fans that have made this an annual thing.
This is not the same league it was eons ago.
We now have more & new teams, Monday night football, Sunday night football, Thursday night football, flex scheduling, games being played abroad, games being played indoors, players not having careers with the team that drafted them, the NFL with the AFC & the NFC instead of two leagues & 16 game seasons instead of 14.
Thanksgiving Day is prime time. Shouldn't we be seeing prime time teams?

Agree 100 percent Singer
If they must have their tradition I would be fine with having them play eachother every year or something
Then mix in a good game

When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?
