Seven-time Pro Bowler confirms retirement plans
Posted: Tuesday March 4, 2008 8:13PM; Updated: Tuesday March 4, 2008 8:13PM
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Warren Sapp's 13-year NFL career officially ended when his retirement was posted on the Oakland Raiders' Web site.
Sapp said immediately after last season that he was through playing, but did not file the paper work. The posting on the team's site was the first official word that the star defensive tackle was done.
In January, the 35-year-old Sapp posted a two-word message on his Web site: "I'M DONE!" He had told teammates and coaches his plans after the season finale against San Diego.

Re: It's official: Sapp calls it quits
wtf..he's still one of the better rated lineman on madden 08
???
Re: It's official: Sapp calls it quits
This
comes as very little surprise. Why would an all-time great want to keep playing in that awful situation? Oakland really does not look like they are going anywhere anytime soon ... so time for Warren Sapp to hit the permanent offseason.

Wanted to time his entry into the hall the same year Lord Favreeeee goes in I suspect.

Except that, as noted in the article, Sapp decided to retire back in January - they just didn't make an official annoucement until yesterday.

We won't hear a PEEP about this anytime soon because the Media is to busy getting their final Favre praisings in since they won't be able to do it during the season any more ... Check that, I bet we STILL hear Favres name about 15 times a game against the pack this year! Anyways, Sapp had a great career! I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him in a Tony Saragusa (sp?) field reporting typle roll!

Him and Lord Favreeee are buds.
They probably hung out together sometime in January and came up with this elaborate scheme.
Pretty easy to see.

I went to ESPN and FOX Sports, both have huge articles about Frave and only ESPN has a one line comment about Warren's retirement.
Talk about casting shadows :P
Re: It's official: Sapp calls it quits
He needs to get in the booth. Or nfln. Him and Deion would be so over the top you'd have to watch.
The America's Game when the Bucs won the superbowl, with most of the commentary by Sapp, is hilarious.
