If The Season ended today
if the season ended today, the playoff seeds in the NFC are as follows.
1. NYG
2. CAR
3. MIN
(5-3 conference record)
4. ARI
(5-4 conference record)
5. TB
6. ATL
That means, the wild card round has ATL@MIN and TB@AZ
divisional round is ATL/MIN@CAR and TB/AZ@NYG
I think, if we were fortunate enough to get final standings like this, we would have a very real shot of at least going to the NFC championship game.
how i see it , the first game, vs ATL, is very winnable.
Matt Ryan is young, and wil lhave a hard time leading his team in the dome.
We will shut down their run game, and come out with a win.
Carolina is tougher, especially since its in CAR, but certainly winnable.
We came close when we were playing like crap, we could very well come out with a win.
the NFC Championship will be much tougher, since we'd likely play NY, but possibly also Tampa (no way AZ wins that game)
It will be tough, but very possible.
attached is my playoff tree, and How I see it happening

Re: If The Season ended today
That would be a dream come true if it worked out that way.
Problem with it for me is that the season isn't gonna end today and there are some very interesting games still go play which cause me to think that it (the bracket) won't
stay with 3 teams from the NFC South.
Very nice post though my friend. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I really hope Childress has figured this out as well, and is stressing the importance of keeping that #3 spot.
there also is the slight chance of moving up to #2, but we need LOTS of help
the upcoming schedule for
CAR is vs TB, vs DEN, @NYG, @NO
TB is @CAR, @ATL, vs SD and vs OAK
ATL is @NO, vsTB, @ MIN and vs STL
Pretending We win out:
we would need Carolina to lose 2 of their games, with one of them being a conference game
Tampa would need to also lose 2 of their games, but it does not matter which ones, since they are currently 5-5 conference record
ATL needs to lose at least 1 of their games, since I'm not sure about our common games
so the ideal scenario would be CAR loses to DEN, CAR loses to NYG (both possible)
then they still play NO and TB who can both spoil someone's playoff hopes(but if TB wins, they have a good shot at taking the division)
TB loses to CAR, TB loses to ATL (still play SD who can sometimes win, and OAK)
ATL loses to MIN, can win rest
IF all of that happens, we can get the #2 seed and a first round bye
my how speculating is fun at 5:00 AM, i might try sleeping.

Re: If The Season ended today
We are getting ahead of ourselves. The Vikings barely beat the Lions. 3 very tough games ahead. We could easily go 8-8.

Re: If The Season ended today
Also, the NFL playoff brackets don't work exactly that way (i.e., like the NCAA Tournament), with the winner of ATL/MIN facing CAR in the Divisional Round.
If NYG is the #1 seed and CAR is #2, NYG gets the lower seed of the two first-round winners. Thus, if ATL beat MIN in the theoretical first round listed in the bracket, ATL would necessarily go to NYG, as the winner of the other matchup would be either the 4 or 5 seed, and thus, a higher-ranked team than ATL.

Re: If The Season ended today
true, but if we got the #3 seed, we wouldn't be playing NY at all untill the NFC championships
