I just heard that LaVar Arrington was seriously injured on the DC Beltway

One of my colleagues heard about it on the John Thompson radio show...no link as of yet...will post one when I get it.
I did hear that he was critically injured though.

You'd think by now they would have some news flashes posted on some of the more popular sports sites but I'm coming across nothing.
Maybe they want to get more details before they report.
Hopefully for both Lavar and his family this is a false rumor.

PRINCE GEORGE'S CO., Md. (WUSA)- Former Washington Redskin LaVar Arrington, while driving his motorcycle on the Rt. 50 West off-ramp to the outer-loop of 495, was involved in a serious crash when he lost control of the vehicle.

When PG County Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene, Arrington was rushed to Prince George's Hospital Center priority one, which is the highest priority.

Arrington's wife and other relatives are at the hospital. A friend of Arrington's told 9NEWS NOW that he will be OK, and a spokeswoman for the hospital said he is in stable condition.

Arrington was drafted by the Washington Redskins as the second overall pick in the 2000 NFL draft. He was recently cut by the New York Giants at the end of last season due to injuries.

Arrington is currently a free agent.

I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

Here, we just call it the Beltway...but I added DC so that you out-of-towners would have a better understanding. I am assigning Zeus as my local MN enforcer...to make sure that everyone gets the picture...and if you still don't get it, I will be sending Zeus over to your house...to SING the definition of what the Beltway is to you!

    Ayup.
Used to live in an apartment building with the Inner Loop right off of my balcony.
After moving from NYC, I found the traffic noise to be comforting.

I found that you can drive the whole Beltway in about 45 minutes if you feel like going for a drive in your new Mustang at midnight.

ARRINGTON IN SERIOUS CONDITION AFTER MOTORCYCLE CRASH

Various media outlets are reporting that former Redskins and Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington has been involved in a serious motorcycle accident in the D.C. area.

Arrington reportedly lost control of his motorcycle at about 1:00 p.m. EDT on Monday and struck a guardrail on U.S. Route 50 near the beltway.

Arrington is listed in serious condition.
Michael Smith of ESPN.com reports that Arrington has a broken bone in his arm, three broken bones in his leg, cuts, and bruises.

The former Penn State standout played last year with the Giants after spending six seasons as a member of the Redskins.
He tore an Achilles' tendon during the 2006 regular season.
The Giants released him in March.
    Arrington currently is unsigned.

He's the third NFL player in less than three years to be involved in a serious motorcycle wreck.
In May 2005, Browns tight end Kellen Winslow suffered a knee injury and internal damage after his motorcycle hit a curb while he was practicing stunts.
In June 2006, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered severe facial injuries after being struck by a car.
Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet.
